We watched this in my English class yesterday. Its a pretty intense/hilarious documentary about competitive gaming. I just thought it was really interesting, and got me thinking about competitive gaming. These people are pretty into it. I also learned that some guy named Billy Mitchell is a total tool.
I also think my English prof is lazy, since this is the second movie we watched, both totally irrelevant to the subject matter at hand.
Billy Mitchell proves just how much people will fight over something that means so little. How can you not like Steve Wiebe? I mean this is just something he started as a hobby when he was laid off. Not to mention that he becomes a science teacher. I'm sure that Mitchell is less Snidley whiplash in real life, but man he didn't make it difficult for te filmmakers to complete the caricature.
If you liked that, try and find "Chasing Ghosts: Beyond the Arcade". It's not about Steve Wiebe vs. Billy Mitchell, but it does go into the history of Twin Galaxies and make you honestly feel bad for a bunch of kids who got paid to play video games in 1982.
God they were such horrible nerds.
I'm completely aware that they may have decided to portray Weibe in a better light and Mitchell as a tool, but from what I hear that's exactly how it was.
The part where
Mitchell goes to the gaming event and just walks past Weibe ignoring him and says to his girlfriend, but out loud so he can hear, "there are certain people that I don't want to talk to..." was so bitchy and unnecessary it was hilarious
Also, I hear the filmmakers did a lot to make Billy look like the villain, but he also enjoyed playing the part.
Yeah for the most part the movie is pretty much fake. Did anyone know that at the beginning of the movie Steve had the high score and was just trying to beat his own score?

Hey
Hey mr Crook
I've got a note on my desk right here before me that says "UPDATE" on it as a reminder for tomorrow.
I think you know what that means.
Or did you think I'd forgotten.
I'm not going to make any promises.
Dammit.
Billy Mitchell is a bitch.

Oh the note is to remind me, heh.
Still, I need to find time to return to it.
I still hope Wiebe has a comeback one day; it's impossible not to root for him.
And he dominates DK Jr.

And it's got more of Walter Day being weird.

Actually that might go for Chuck, too.
