this is one of the best books I've read in ages and ages
I sat down, read the first chapter one day, was intrigued and picked it up before bed one night and ended up reading the entire goddamned thing, because cormack macarthy writes prose like a madman.
i'm not sure if the book can be converted to movie while retaining its power
not even sure if i'm going to see this, i don't know how interested i am in it, it'd be like adapting blood meridian to the screen (which tommy lee jones holds the rights to)
I'm halfway through All the Pretty Horses, and really need to finish it
also, orikae, they made No Country into an astounding movie
I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that they'll make this one good too
although I'm kinda concerned with all the footage of the wife in the trailer
i still haven't watched that one
i don't know. the best parts of the book, for me, were intrinsically book-like, and wouldn't have the same impact, particularly in the apocalypse-saturated cinematic world we live in today
like those naked cannibals in a cellar who shout 'save us' and then the dad leaves, terrifed
I am pretty excited about the movie. I loved the book but I was really interested to know what the apocalypse was that went down. Its never mentioned much in the book, some descriptions are given of structures and also the constant rain of ash. Other than that not much detail is given. im not looking for a lot of exposition really but i am wondering if they will do something like in I am legend, where the visuals and environment tell parts of the story, like the news papers and recorded news reports. Even if it doesnt though I know this will be a great movie in its own right.

Well I'll send it off to Rane and he can send it to whomever. It is a quick read. I just happened to have two copies and haven't taken the other to Half Price books yet so I might as well give it to a good cause.

This movie is being directed by the same guy who did the Proposition. Not exactly kiss kiss bang bang territory here. Also Nick Cave and Warren Ellis are making the music. Nick Cave and Warren Ellis I tell you!
