apparently the 1956 summer olympics in melbourne were held in november/december

i guess they could just do that

i don't understand how the summer olympics work in a place where it's winter

they have them at a different time of year, which I suppose also explains why the winter olympics are offset by two years

edit: oh see there you go

also you could have just gone back to the 2000 sydney olympics instead of 56

well there've only ever been one olympic games (winter or summer) in the southern hemisphere

but it seems like moving them would mess up people's training? i've never really considered what training for seasonal games in a place where it's the opposite season would be like.

well, how cold does rio even get, honestly, it's not like winter means "snow" there

(it's still going to be held in august so)

My occipital lymph node is very swollen and itches...which pretty much means I have some sort of infection. :(

I wonder if it was caused by these giant wrap-around-the-ear headphones I've been wearing when gaming.

no there have been melbourne and sydney games

like up there you talked about the melbourne games

and then I talked about the sydney games

and since both melbourne and sydney are both in australia they are in the same hemisphere

and there have been summer olympic games at both of them

so there have been two olympic games in the southern hemisphere

you get acclimatised over the course of a few weeks anyway, the time of year doesn't really have much influence I would guess.
