London 2012 is going to bring nothing but shame upon this fair isle. I feel tremendously embarrassed already. London may well be one of the most important and influential cities in the world, but it's a hole. A shit sty filled with nothing but grime and filth. It's going to be Athens all over again, except we won't have the mystique of ancient greece to mask out budget problems.
Yeah, it's great living in London.

My brother lived in Hackney for a year and saw one 16 year old get stabbed in the neck to death and another guy stabbed non-fatally.
I think he has photos of the former from a distance on his flickr somewhere. No gore or anything...just like, him across the street while emergency officials hovered around this mass lying on the sidewalk.

seriously chicago is like three hours away from me
this is perfect distance because this way I don't actually have to deal with it 24/7 but I am within a day's drive of it if I want to go to such as an event or two
I'm starting to hate people that live in Chicago. I guess that's part of the reason I really hope Chicago gets the Olympics, to spite those fucking assholes.
I'm going to put my money on Rio winning just for the fact it would spread both the winter and summer games more evenly across the globe in the next 7 years

Atlanta and Sarajevo would like to point out all the wonderful things the olympics can do for your town

A magician gives you a ring that, when worn, will let you see the world as it truly is.
However, the ring will never leave your finger, and you will be unable to ever describe to another living person what you see.

Atlanta would probably be a much nicer town if it hadn't had the olympics. This city owned in 1994.
Specifically, no eight (sixteen total) lane highways holy shit

undecided on whether or not I want the olympics here
it would be nice for the areas they want to put stadiums in, because it would spur development in areas that really need it (specifically the Tri-Taylor/West Loop and Washington Park areas)
but it will probably make the city broke and has potential to cause a lot of damage to public functions
and it'll be really fucking hard to get to work for two weeks

fyi if Wrigley field isn't up to specifications for olympic events then the olympics are its death certificate.

what? they aren't planning on holding any events there
Just to clear up the 20 or so misconceptions about it, the new Chicago logo (i.e. the star therein) is based on the city flag.
What was wrong about the old one. That was slick as fuck. I happen to like the look of the sears tower. or is it supposed to be the john hancock?
The old logo looked too much like the olympic torch (that was the intent) and you're not allowed to have official olympic symbols in your logo while you are a candidate city.

ok, so you build a new stadium, presumably one that can have baseball
now you have three stadiums and two baseball teams
Chances are you aren't demolishing the brand new one

I hope Chicago wins! Mostly because by 2016 I might be living there!
it's not necessarily a good thing for city residents, yo
everyone i know who lives in chicago said right away 'man, the traffic is going to be even worse'
still, chicagos a nice place isnt it? i liked it.
when I got to Chicago to visit (I live like 30 minuets away from it) I never drive. I take the train, the L, or the Bus. Fuck driving in Chicago. I did that once.

What is being built in Tri-Taylor/West Loop? There isn't much room out there with UIC and the medical district. I thought everything new was being built on the south-east shore.

I have my reasons
how many riots do you think would happen?
If Tokyo loses in one of the earlier rounds of voting, somebody needs to post
OH. NO. THERE GOES TOKYO GO GO GODZILLA
tomorrow if they announce chicago winning, or during the games?
I would say "a few" to both
They are still trying to clean the smog off their clothes.
