Work Question - Consulting

Want to get your guys opinions on a work question. I've been unemployed for 6 month now, got a call for a week-long consulting gig updating some training docs. Did the work this week, think I did a good job, and they seem happy. This Monday will probably be my last day with them. Would definitely like to work with the company again, either again as a consultant or as an employee.
So question is, what level of self-promotion is recommended, if any? And how? The people I worked with directly have my personal biz cards. Do I give them my resume?
I'd say it's OK to be pretty out there. Giving a manager or a hiring manager a copy of your resume, telling them you enjoyed the work, and letting them get recommendations from anybody you worked with is a good thing. Also remember that many companies still have substantial referral bonuses, which gives existing employees very good incentive (i.e., cha-ching $$$) to shepherd you through the process. (However, since you've already been employed as a contractor, the referral bonus might not apply. Can't hurt, though).

Ok.
I'll print up some on the nice resume paper to bring on Monday, and see how it works out.
I just didn't want to be too forward and put them off - didn't want to seem too desperate, I guess. "So you hiring? I'm not too racist, and I'll do anything, you know, for money..."
