AVG Firewall refuses to work

I have the full package of avg and while it worked for a time, after several re-installations of windows, the firewall refuses to work, i have tried the configuration tool several times and downloaded the newest installer and tried that, and I have tried looking through network connections to enable it but I cannot find a tic box relating to AVG firewall. The only firewall I see active is windows.
Now, I run a scan and I get something like 140 errors and I am scared that I may have to reinstall again.
Advice please.

If you have a hardware firewall Windows Firewall is more than enough.
