I highly doubt it would be too informational. Like I said, I don't know anything about the game. SA can sue me. It just happens to be a game that lends itself to that sort of commentary. I would have done it with SR2 had I really thought about it before hand. I don't really have any other games that would work, though if someone else would rather organize it with a different game, I'd be fine with that.
Glad there's some interest though. I just think it would be cool to have multiple PA people comment on something for a change since it has rarely been done. I'll PM everyone who voiced interest and ask what times are good for you. My hope would be to comment on about an hour of video at a time at least once a week. That way I could cut it up and release a few sets a week without having to get people together too often. Then again different people might be available on different days, so maybe more could be done with different guests. Obviously we can't have everyone in at once, especially when we have Klyka and Helloween across the endless seas.
Listening to what? I said I'd cut it up and post it in parts, on different days. That way people wouldn't have to sit through an hour long video. It just seems like kind of a waste of time to get everyone together and only commentate for like 30 minutes.
I agree that a test would be good, but it's still the holidays. I might wait until after New Years to start everything up. Figured getting interest now wouldn't hurt though.
People interested should get Skype if they don't have it. You can add me from my profile here.
Eh screw it. Apparently the guy doing the SA LP sucks at LPing so you'll probably be better at it anyway. So if you're still looking for commentators then I wouldn't mind giving it a go.

When Klyka, surrealitycheck and I did 3 man shoutcasts for DoWII (hey, no funny looks; it was a dark time for all of us) we used Skype and mp3 Skype recorder (Google it). That was fairly good although the audio balance was a bit weird occasionally. But yeah, one person with that programme and everyone with Skype is a fairly straightforward way of doing it.

That's probably what he's talking about
Except, it's Weedle (BOOM! DOCTA WATSON has had a name change) doing the SA GTA4 LP, and he outright can't post anything right now anyway (he's probated for the next few days).
Weedle is Rock Tumbler. He's had his name/avatar changed by other people like 5 times just during this LP alone. For anyone not familiar with SA, people can change other people's usernames and avatars, but it costs 10 dollars.
The things people spend money on...
Anyway, for anyone interested, Skype is gonna be the only thing you'll need. I'll worry about recording. Though I guess a semi-requirement is feeling confident enough that you'll be able to provide somewhat interesting commentary.
Oh, and you'll be needing to download the videos to watch. I'm not quite sure how I'm going to be doing that, yet.

If we do 45 min videos, you could upload them to Viddler or something so we can all stream them instead of downloading?
And I feel confident to provide interesting, Aryan commentary!

Saints Row 2 is a better fit for random people commentating since that game is crazy. GTAIV is really too dull by comparison. But hey, it doesn't really seem like the game in question is really what this LP is going to be about.

GTA4 is basically all about our ability to make fun of COUSIN! BIG AMERICAN TITTIES! for about 10 hours.
Like I said, I already did an LP of SR2. Besides, the physics in GTA4 still enable plenty of amusing moments.
As far as uploading to Viddler and commenting as we stream. Eh, I suppose I could do that... I'd have to split up the videos ahead of time, though, since it has a 500mb upload limit. I'd kinda not prefer to do it that way, but if people are really not interested in downloading files roughly a gig in size each time, then I suppose the Viddler thing would be a decent alternative. I'm just not thrilled by Viddler's weird compression and low quality.
That was my plan, just because I thought it would be easier to not have to stop every 15 minutes and have everyone sync up a new video, but if I'm having people download or watch from Viddler, I'm gonna have to split it ahead of time anyway.

It certainly doesn't have to be every 15 minutes. And how hard could it be to countdown? "Okay everyone, and 3, 2, 1, GO!" People will be off by a second or two in one direction or the other, but it has never been an issue in other LP's I've seen.

If he does upload to Viddler, it'd still be better to download it anyway since you can dl the source video off of Viddler. Better that way too, since it's less likely to cause someone to be out of sync as watching stuff streaming can, and often does, cause lag if you try to record that way.
I sent out a PM regarding a few details to people I remember voicing interest in doing commentary for GTAIV, but if I missed you, PM me and I'll fill you in. There are still a few of people I'd like to see in at least a few videos. Kaseius and Donhonk I'm looking at you!

Ooh, ooh, let me contribute my nasally and annoying voice to your opus!
I find that janky games give me more to talk / joke about. Republic Commando is the most polished game on my list. It's also probably the least interesting LP.

Some people are good at praising and some good at trashing. Pick what's best for you! Unless you're good at both, then whatever.
You should jump on Republic Commando by the way, because I would watch the shit out of that. I think there's one up on the SA LP Archive.
EDIT: I guess I should really start threads for them. :P
For some reason I went to 'R' when double checking the list to see if you had done it yet; I skip the "Star Wars" part of more Star Wars game titles when naming them.
I assume you did those LPs for another forum, and are just alerting this forum to them now?
I'd hope so, since the alternative is a bit... disturbing.
Color me disturbing. I did them just to do them. I'm not even comfortable calling them LPs because there aren't really choices for the audience to make. That's also why I haven't been starting threads for them. If there aren't choices, it doesn't seem like a proper LP. Astayonix calls them "Video Talkthroughs", which is as good a name as any.
