Ok so, for my next essay in english were doing a qualitative research report. and so theres this survey about a word I'm suppose to give to 15-25 people, but more is welcome. My hope here is that I get my stuff, but that this also sparks some good discussion about stuff. you can either PM me your response or put it in the thread, but please mark/spoiler it so I know its there. Ok heres the official part:
Hello! My name is Bucketman, and I am gathering information for an English 102 course project. My professor, Dr.Amanda Laudig, would like us to ask people to fill out questionnaires for us so that we might learn how to gather and analyze data. I would appreciate your taking a few minuets to fill out my questionnaire. Your responses can be completely anonymous and will be employed only in the project that I write for class. Thank you for your time. Dongs.

I wish I could help you with this survey but I read through the questions and wanted to kill myself.
The PAX forum might have more nerd pride. I hear there was a anime club president there.

she said like 20-25. but at this point I would be happy to get 10. Shes not going to look at them, I just need enough varied information to make a cohesive paper. I should add I fucking hate this class.
also thank you swordfights. You are gentleman and a scholar.
also: if I get enough serious answers and people don't shit on my thread I might do a thing for all the peeps who helped me out! Just some incentive for ya!

Define the term "Nerd" in no more then one sentence. A nerd is a person who can appreciate a fiberglass replica of a sword from their favorite anime
Give at least one term that means the same as "Nerd" Geek, Dork, Dweeb, Goober
Give at least one term that means the opposite of "Nerd" Jock, Prep
Use the term "nerd" in a sentence. John is LARPing this weekend? John's a nerd.
Have you Ever used this term? If so, briefly describe when and why. When something is just irreparably far gone, to the point where their fake universe is somehow preferable to one that exists, the word Nerd comes to mind.
Have you ever called yourself "nerd"? if so, briefly describe when and why. Sometimes I myself would like to live in some fantasy land.
Have you ever been called "nerd"? if so, please briefly describe when and why. I post on a forum for a webcomic about videogames, and people know who I am.
If someone where to call you "nerd", would you think it was an insult or a compliment? Explain. It would be an insult in their minds, but the term gains nothing but apathy from me.
How do you often see the term "nerd used? What kinds of people tend to use it? Condescending and egotistical people, or "nerds" themselves.
You gender? Age? When you took this questionnair and where. Also location and when you are typically undressing. 16 year old male, I took this questionnaire on the webcomics forum I post on. I am usually in Bucketman's mom's room when my pants are off.
Define the term "Nerd" in no more than one sentence.
A nerd is a person who obsesses over a particular subject or subjects, typically of a nonsocial nature, to the point that it dominates or defines their life.
Give at least one term that means the same as "Nerd"
Dork comes closest in my mind.

Jock.
Use the term "nerd" in a sentence.
Alex is a nerd; he'd rather watch videos about computer games than sleep with a woman.
Have you Ever used this term? If so, briefly describe when and why.
I use it as a term of endearment to my husband all the time. He tends to ramble on about games or roleplaying games for a little longer than I'd like. I'll say 'you're such a nerd' as an affectionate reminder to him to stop talking.
Have you ever called yourself "nerd"? if so, briefly describe when and why.
I can't recall when specifically but I'm sure I have. I can also obsess quite easily over certain games, TV shows or books.
Have you ever been called "nerd"? if so, please briefly describe when and why.
I was called a nerd just five minutes ago for concentrating on filling out this survey rather than sleeping.
If that's not a good enough answer I'm also called a nerd for writing a story rather than sleeping.
If someone where to call you "nerd", would you think it was an insult or a compliment? Explain.
It depends entirely upon the context in which it is used. If my friends or relatives call me a nerd it's typically out of affection. However, I never consider it a compliment. From a stranger it would be an insult.
How do you often see the term "nerd used? What kinds of people tend to use it?
I see it used by people who are perhaps nerds themselves to call out other people's antisocial and obsessive natures. I think most people become obsessed with something at some point in their lives, only some hobbies are seen as more socially acceptable than others. To be a nerd is decidedly unattractive and uncool, so people tend to use it either in a self-depreciating sense or to point out that someone else is an even greater nerd than they are.
