I know my last visit to my grandpa on his deathbed was to find out how the whole Nazi werewolf thing turned out.

Yeah, summaries are a good thing to induce people to talk about the concept if nothing else
The first issue doesnt really explain any back story just pushes you into the view point of the protagonist n his view of a world he knows little about. Got a erie quality to it.
Nobody read this?
fair enough heres the offical summary;
"After being raised in total isolation, Gus – a boy born with deer-like antlers – is left to survive in an American landscape devastated a decade earlier by an inexplicable pandemic.
Enter Jepperd, a violent, hulking drifter who soon takes in Gus and promises to lead him to "The Preserve," a fabled safe-haven for hybrid children."
(edit): o and the tag line from a magazine i read was;
A little boy with antlers
A big man with guns
A world without hope
you don't get to say what is lame
maybe he likes them. maybe he isn't obsessed with his own image like some hollywood actress.
