I think most everyone here has probably played this fantastic arcade shooter - but I recently remembered a PS2 port was planned, and as with all good things I miss out on that means it was only released outside of the US.

The PS2 port used the Eye Toy Camera and a light gun attachment, which probably makes it too expensive of a proposition for a rather short game, but this thing was a freakin' blast and it is definitely cheaper to get a camera and a gun than a huge arcade cabinet right?

So few questions for the community...

- Has anyone played the PS2 port? EU or JP version?
- What hardware is it compatible with? Will practically any USB camera do the job?
- Was it a fairly faithful port?!

Anything you got would be much appreciated - a lot of reviews out there make it clear the player was just going at it with their Dual Shock D:

Oh man, I remember playing the arcade version years ago.

I also remember that I couldn't see shit because the first level was in this dark-ass nightclub and that more often than not I was shooting hostages and civilians.

    But yeah, fun concept.

You know that 99 life reward for the best rank? I fucking got it. It was amazing. So amazing that I got shot right after from some bullet I know I dodged and lost the rank before finishing, so I don't think I got to sign my name. I don't care though, I know I got it.

Wow, I haven't thought about this game in a long time. It was pretty cool. I didn't know there was a PS2 port!

I checked gamefaqs really quickly and it looks like you need their custom camera. Eyetoy doesn't work according to a poster.

If that's the case that might be a blessing in disguise!

Here's the post he was talking about:
You need to get Konami's "capture eye", I wasted $15 finding out Eyetoy was no good before I got it. As for gun, it doesn't work with guncon 2, but luckily there are cheap light guns from China I found on Ebay that let you switch between "normal", guncon1 and guncon2. Also the only version of the game that works with USB camera support is the Japanese version. Luckily I was able to buy both it and the "capture eye" (also inteded for Japanese market) from an outfit in Hong Kong through Ebay for a reasonable price. I think they still have some more of both in stock.

EDIT: I had a list of "compatible cameras" from a DigitPress poster here originally, but even he ran into trouble with the supposed multiple USB camera compatibility and only the Konami Capture Eye worked for him. I assume he tried both versions because he mentions owning both the Japanese and European games.

EDIT 2: The webcam he tried didn't have an Omnivision chipset, which according to a review at least was mentioned by a Konami representative as being necessary for other USB cameras to work (and I assume it's the same technology in the Capture Eye). You can buy a camera here for $15 after shipping if you would like to try it out: http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-Camera-OV511-Omnivision-Technologies-NEW_W0QQitemZ140338306183QQcmdZViewItemQQptZBI_Control_Systems_PLCs?hash=item20acd09c87

The only alternative besides that seems to be buying a bundle with the game and camera, which is typically $80 to $100.

EDIT 3: I also said that maybe it was the Gun Con 1 that was compatible with the game since the Gun Con 2 was not, but that isn't the case. There is a Konami "Hyper Blaster" that you must have (or a clone gun that supports it) in order to play this game.

Sorry for not just making an edit but I have a pretty clear and concise idea of what is necessary to play the game now.

    You need:
-The game Police 24/7 or Keisatsukan
    -A Konami Hyper Blaster/Justifier
-The Konami Capture Eye (You can buy it in a bundle with the game or for $49 here: http://www.ncsxshop.com/cgi-bin/shop/RU035.html)
-A Playstation 2 from the region you bought the game or a method to bypass region protection
