    Hm, I always thought that if you were ever braking and turning at the same time, you've done something wrong, at least without taking other cars into account. If you need to brake halfway through a turn, you should have done it before the turn started.

    You've got the right idea, but with real-life or analog control you can ease off the brake as you turn in since the traction circle will allow it. Kind of an advanced technique that has no relevance to the OP.
