Inexpensive flash drives

I'm trying to buy a lot of like 1gb flash drives for the non-profit I work for, so I need them cheap. I go to a store like frys and they have 4gb flash drives for $8 and when I go to a company online for a quote they're generally offering me $10 for a 512mb stick. Ebay is also a mess.

Does anyone know a place where I can get a good price on these drives. Like a monoprice for flashdrives?

Since you already tried the online custom-drive places and didn't get any luck, you're probably best off just buying a shitload of the ones from Fry's ... go in there and say "Hey, I need to buy like 50/100/250 of these things, can I talk to the manager about cutting a deal?"

I have no idea what company makes them, but I have seen a lot of goodie bags lately that have 1GB flash drives with the company's logo stamped on them. Maybe try looking for business promotion type companies that might sell commodity-grade flash drives in bulk.

Edit: these are the cheapo one's I've seen given away (I have around 5 kicking around). This is the first hit I got so you can probably find them a lot cheaper if you look.

The "ExactMatch" model on this website is also one I've seen around quite a bit with different company logos. You have to request a quote from them--they might be more willing to work with you on the price than other places though.

There's a Microcenter in Tustin, CA, that you could call and see if they have any 1GB or 2GB on closeouts. I bet they'd work with you to cut you a dea.

More than 1gb seems like such a waste of space to me. I'm basically using these to load up with free software and teaching computer classes to kids. The software is no more than 100mb of space with the rest for the kids' work. I don't understand why I can't find huge lots of 1 gb drives and how the custom shops sell them for sooooo much more.

Talk to a print shop. I work at one, and we have third party resources that allow us to buy in bulk (talking anywhere from 100 up to thousands here) for usually a couple dollars or less.
