You know what my favorite thing about this year's game is? Female wrestlers are FINALLY allowed back into all the gimmick matches. With the sole exception of First Blood. For YEARS, women have not been allowed in the SVR games to compete in most of the match types, no cage, hardcore, ladder, HIAC, etc. Some games wouldn't even let them be in six-man tags. Thank god. I have a few regular female CAWS that I like to make and they finally will be playable in the good stuff again.

But are there bra & panty pillow-fight matches?! This is important.

No it's not, I'm just remembering that one year where that was like the only match you could do with the divas.:?

I don't know if it's been mentioned, but I think one of the other guys said that a new thing was the mixed tag. I thought it was funny that a male attacking a female/female attacking a male DQ would be so much more strictly enforced than on TV.

And really, that seems to be one thing which really separates the games from the "real" thing, as it were: no sense of theatrics from the AI. Every time one of the developers tried doing Undertaker taunts during the Royal Rumble match, he got attacked. Sure, that might happen on TV sometimes, but usually if a wrestler is doing a part of their schtick, they usually manage to get away with it, making the times they don't all the more "OMG!"

EDIT: Zach Ryder and Yoshi Tatsu better be unlockable characters.

They didn't show up until after the cutoff date. Well, Ryder was around before, but not the way "you know it."

Hm, but the game includes Ezekiel Jackson, who came in right at the same time as Yoshi, and I'm pretty sure "Woo Woo Woo" Ryder was in ECW before him as well. Ah well, they'll probably release them as DLC, and I'll probably end up spending the points for them.

Jackson was previously a bodyguard for THE Brian Kendrick (who is also in the game despite being released for smoking pot) and was featured quite heavily when they teamed up.

It would certainly be better than "hit one button to reverse grapples, and another to reverse strikes", but I've yet to enjoy a reversal system in a wrestling game. Though...seriously...one button is better than many. The main problem I have is that the past couple years of SvR have seen the AI reverse just about every goddamn move I attempt.

    This.

Yukes seems to think that difficulty=non stop reversals.

It makes playing the harder difficulties insanely boring, because the computer tends to reverse almost all the grapples you attempt, so you're stuck using the quick ones over and over again, until you weaken them. And sure, then you might be able to use the other grapples, but what for, since you already have finishers built up?

You know what was my favorite finisher in last year's version? Orton's turnbuckle RKO. Where your opponent would go up the turnbuckle and fly at you, only at the last minute have Orton get up and do an RKO in the air. Never got tired of seeing it.

Man, this is making me wish that there was some sort of "online league" feature in these games. I think that PAW would have been awesome if there was a way to have done it on Live or something along those lines.

Speaking of first blood, I wonder if they are going to tone down anything, seeing as the WWE is working hard to target kids nowadays. I mean, last week's Hell in a Cell didn't even feature blood!

Yukes need to go ahead and lift some features from their Wrestle Kingdom series, sure it was no better on the whole than Smackdown but some little touches in it were really nice.
Oh and if they could make the Yakuza kick not look like shit I'd really appreciate that.
Not that it matters really, I mean I'll probably still be playing Fire Pro and King of Colosseum until I can pick up SvR for under £20.

It's a strange phenomenon in professional wrestling, isn't it? A guy who's not all that big can jump ship to TNA and become an instant main-eventer/world title-holder just for the fact that he used to be employed by WWE. Inversely, a guy who's left WWE for TNA, and goes back to WWE will be 19878912375928375x more popular than he was during his first WWE run, just for the fact that he's returned from TNA. See: Jeff Hardy. Proof Positive that competition is good for the industry.

EDIT: I just want to make it known that I've been a massive Jeff Hardy fan since 1999, and his TNA run had nothing to do with my undying fandom. It's really too bad that he seems bent on sentencing himself to Federal Pound-Me-In-The-Ass prison, though. I really lost a lot of respect for him when he got arrested.

I honestly haven't even really bothered to read anything about the game before it comes out. It's one of those things where I want to either A.) hear player reviews or B.) just play it and gauge for myself. Ya know? How many times in the past have we had things hyped only for them to end up terrible? Or had things fly relatively under-the-radar only to be a pretty cool feature?

Yeah I know but the timing is a joke anyways. The window for reversals is so large so the only challenge was the button to press, not the timing. That's why I prefer the two buttons.

The latest 1up podcast has a small interview with two of the designers, and while they don't really give any new info, they confirmed that Yoshi and Zack Ryder won't be in the game.

And I hadn't realized that you would be able to download and share the stories you create from the story mode. That makes a lot more sense now, as before I was "eh, so you can create scenes, so what?" If they can actually do this, and streamline the process of downloading CAWs, this could actually have some nice replay value.

Downloading stories from other people could be epic. Recreating classic story lines (not to mention original ones) would be pretty awesome.

What they need to do is make sure there is a rating system, like Fight Night Round 4 does for the downloadable boxers. That way you have a better chance of getting a good CAW/storyline and not a piece of shit about tits.

    Though tits are good.

Oh and this will probably matter to some people:
There's a limit of 10 Created Superstar appearances in any story. At first, I thought this meant you could only have 10 Created Superstars in a story, but what this really means is that you can only have 10 uses of a CAS in a story. If you have Created Superstar A in one match and one scene, that counts at two of your 10 uses. Basically, Superstar A can appear in a total of 10 matches and scenes combined. Toss in another CAS, and the number keeps dropping. That's incredibly lame, and I apologize for the confusion.

The fuck? What kind of weird ass restriction is that? So you can have a story but for a random reason he can only appear in 10 matches, 10 scenes or a mixture of each up to a total of 10? Why have they done that?

Can you create a story and take your CAW through it or is that included in your 10?
