So you know how earlier in this thread, I mentioned how happy I was that female wrestlers were finally being allowed into more match types?

Well guess what? They are now not allowed to compete with men. At all. Not even in a standard, vanilla match.

    FUCK YOU THQ.

I am done with those days I think. I posted so much for Fire Pro and it just doesn't seem worth it when you get no feedback.

I would be up for a league or something if you guys want. How would it work? Can you have title matches online? I assume so. I say first things first...battle royal to determine the champ.

If this is indeed possible, if I pick this up I would love to see about starting up PAW. The e-fed we had in critical failures sadly went down but I remember it quite fondly and would like to see it rise up again in this form if it can. If so I say we call the first PPV "Resurrection". Man, now I'm all gitty in wanting to make my wrestler again.

EDIT** And if it's possible I'm wanting a grudge match between my guy and Locked. That sucks about the mixed gender matches though. Maybe something could be done with making a mixed match but have the partners as cpu or something?

The biggest hurdle for a PAW would be that all the participants would have to get the game for the same system.

Reviews have actually been generally positive for the game, now that more are coming out. Gameradar gave it a 9, and GI gave it an 8.5. Not bad, and most are saying it's the best Smackdown in ages.

The funny thing is there was several intergender matches in the real WWE this year alone.

They could at least let us use our CAWs in any match like in the older games. But nope, let's design a game around the premise of us being able to make "our world" and then cripple any female character from participating.

Mind you, with all of the "customizing" available now I suppose Locked could make a wrestler that looked almost exactly what she would need them to only be male. I know it's not the best choice but it could still work too.

Also the intergender violence thing is most likely an edict handed down from the WWE, espescially when you consider their new PG-centric direction.

That's my best guess too... it sucks, but not much we can do, thanks to the lack of decent competition on the newest consoles. Either way, I'm strongly debating getting this. The only hangup I have is that my attention will be focused on Forza 3 for the most part, but I can see this game being one where I can enjoy it for a long time.

I'm waiting for some sort of intergender hack...then again, this is the same company that removed all the moves that Chris Benoit ever used from the game's programming the year he went nuts (Or so I heard. Who knows how thorough the programmers were?). So there was no crossface, not even a diving headbutt.

I usually use the Undertaker's theme in previous games, but this is my first not on the PS2. I have some In Flames songs on my hdd that would work for now. I need to do some investigating though.

Which begs the question. Is there a way to get a song on the actual 360 without ripping from a CD?

At some point they took out the crossface, but it's back in this year. I don't know about the other moves, I never really noticed (if)they were gone. Removing them just because Benoit happened to use them is retarded though. It's not like he's the only person to ever use them. Especially something as simple as a diving headbutt. :?

Or maybe some of us would like to actually use the female wrestlers and fight more than the same 8 people over and over again? Maybe some of us like to make female CAWs and not have them be barred from 90% of the game? Maybe some of us have female friends or significant others that could play with us without smeone having to pick outside their gender? Maybe there are some actual *gasp* female gamers who would like to play with their favorite "divas" and still experience the full game?

So New England had terrible weather this weekend and I pretty much cleared out my backlog and had nothing better to do so I went about finishing a 100% clear of No Mercy.

Some of the storylines in that game are ridiculous, but man if it doesn't have a good story mode! People always praise the CAW and the gameplay but really its kind of a thrill to relive the best storylines from 1998-2000, the real resurgence of the WWF's popularity and the height of the Attitude era.

So I haven't bought a wrestling game since No Mercy (which I still think was absolutely awesome, as evidenced by above) ... I remember absolutely hating the physics of the Smackdown games on the PS2 with people flopping all around the ring, it just never felt real. I played Legends of Wrestlemania for a little bit and thought the gameplay was prettty good.

Has the physics engine made a big enough of a leap so now that it's actually realistic or is it still really arcade-y?

Point taken, but watching someone flop down after a slap where his head his half sticking through a turnbuckle ... I wasn't too sure what other "term" could have been used for that.

I think the main thing was just that it looked like it was people falling down and not rag dolls just getting chucked all over the world.

Yes, it is. A realistic wrestling game would be one that accurately captures the look and feel of pro wrestling, which is something that exists in real life.

Just because pro wrestling is "fake" doesn't mean a wrestling game can't be realistic.

I should not have to explain this.

Watch a wrestling match and the first time someone gets dropped on their head the fight is over. That's realistic, that's not what I want from a wrestling game OR wrestling in general.

If you just mean physics, I don't know. If you drop someone off the top ropes they fall at an appropriate speed. If you drop someone off a 2 story high steel cage onto a concrete floor or hit them in the face with the ring bell then they will roll around a bit then stand back up.

The clipping is still awful, unless they've fixed that.

Wrestling matches are in a constant ebb and flow. What is an instant KO in one match is like flies in another match.
