Just rented it. If it satisfies, it's a buy. If not, I'll probably keep it for this month then rent it for another one. Accault and I tried to get PAW off the ground but it wasn't so successful. I'd like to give it another try. Tournaments, graphics, the whole shebang. I had a lot of fun with it but general disinterest killed the whole thing. I don't think it helped that we were playing it well after the game came out if I recall. I, for one, would love to. If enough people want to participate, we can totally get it started again.

That reminds me, how is online for the game? Cause I remember 07 was fucking broken. When it wasn't lagging, all you ever encountered where people with 100 stats and who used the same damn moves that locked you into an animation cycle.

Well, if we all play together then you won't have to worry about the 100 stat characters. :winky:

We can figure out a set of 'match rules' for our fed if there are any lame exploits online.
So you can make a woman but you can't have her fight any guy ever? Well that just breaks it for me. My wife loves the Smackdown games but she is fed up with the fact that the females are always overlooked and they almost NEVER include a story mode for the ladies.
I kinda like the Smackdown series but I get the most joy out of it when my created guy and her created girl can fight along side each other and it looks like that can happen in this new one, but it is limted too much.
No, everyone upset with this is just a closet woman-beater. That must be it.
This is a stupid argument because it's a WWE game. When WWE puts chicks in an Elimination Chamber or Hell in a Cell match, maybe you'll have a point.
If you're looking for equality the absolute last place you should be looking is professional wrestling. Video game or otherwise.
1.) You seem to not be understanding the complaint. The complaint is not women being barred from gimmick matches. In fact, they're actually finally allowed in more this year than in the past. The problem is them not being allowed to compete with men anymore in ANY kind of match, including bare-bones singles matches. the fact that I can't take my created female wrestlers and put them against 90% of the roster in even the most basic of matches is a serious fucking problem.
2.) Intergender matches happen in the real WWE. Several happened this very year. So saying that this is simply keeping the game equal to how it's portrayed on TV is actually false.
3.) Saying "it doesn't happen on TV" is a stupid point anyway. There will never be a Cowboy Bob Orton vs. Goldust TLC match at Wrestlemania, but I can do that in the game. Triple H will never lose clean to Brian Kendrick in real life, but I can do it in the game. The entire big marketing push for this year's game is how it's suposed to be "our world" where we get to control the "WWE Universe" as we see fit. The thing they forgot to mention is that it's only "our world" if in "my world" women haven't been allowed to vote yet.
Oh, and on a side note: women can now fight each other in cage and ladder matches. What can't they fight each other in? Six-woman tags and 6-woman battle royales.
My storyline is going to be a tournament where the loser gets hit by a car after as a consequence. Match, car attack, match, car attack, match, car attack.

Agreed 1000%. It's too bad, game looked nice, but this is a deal breaker. Oh well. Maybe I'll just rent it instead, I'd like to play a decent wrestling game again.

You are pure evil, and hate personified. You don't care anything about your fellow man, and are guided only by your desire to rule over your inferiors, i.e. everybody but you. 'Mercy,' you ask, prior to grinding an enemy beneath your mighty heel, 'What is mercy?' Take the quiz!
The only logical explanation I can come up with for the lack of intergender conflict is that they finally got stats correct for everybody, which means they had to come up with a way to protect the male roster from Beth "Destroyer of Worlds" Phoenix.
On a more serious note I would totally be down with some kind of league/fed for this, a decent online competition would be enough to drag me away from FPR for the first time in way too long.
I am still on the fence. I don't know. If I do decide, I will get it either tomorrow before I go into work at 2pm, before work at 4pm Thursday, or Friday when I am off.
I want to see some more gameplay videos to see if they excite me.
Oh god I kind of bought this on Impulse. Never played a Smackdown game, last one was Day of Reckoning, and before that, No Mercy.
It's like I get a whole new world of upgrades and I don't know who a lot of these guys are.
Your capitalization of "impulse" made me think there's a PC version.

I'm definitely up for an online league. I'm going to get the 360 version as well. I'm most likely going to use a CAW of my own design.

Well, after several hours of playing, I can say the point system for clothing is all kinds of bullshit. I can add tattoos out the ass, but I can't add a jacket to my shoes, pants, belt, wrist bands, and t-shirt. Oh, and most of the boots clip through the pants, so there were like 2 pairs I could wear with the leather pants.
The other stuff is pretty cool, though. I created an entrance video for my CAW. It's okay. You can only add clips from a single match, though.
Picked this up for PS3, it is fun so far. Started Edge's Road to Wrestlemania because you can unlock the Rock upon completion. I also made a CAW and finisher and entrance for him just so I could use random music from my PS3. Started him in career mode as well.
I'm enjoying it so far, though trying to get guys into position for signature and finisher moves can be a bitch at times, but that's to be expected.
I'm KDRudy on PS3 for anyone else that has it there.

I figured there would be a stipulation like that. Does it just keep playing the random clips or can you put in stuff inbetween/mix up the colors, speed, etc?
And we can use custom music, right?
I just might get this in the next few days (360). Put me down for a fed of sorts. FYI, I typically work nights (like 3-11, 4-12). I am off every Monday for hockey (which takes me out from around 630-10). When I get home from work I am good to go for a few matches and before work if I am up. Just let me know how this will all play out and I could kind of plan around it. Haha.
I finished both the Created RtW and the Mickie James RtW last night.
They were fun. Only about 15 matches and then you're finished. I didn't even save the Mickie James one, I just went right through it.
Things I've unlocked...
Ezekiel Jackson
Vince McMahon
Vince McMahon in a suit
Vince McMahon's office
Eve
Natalya in Mickie James' clothing
Trish Stratus
I'm not sure if your options you pick in RtW effect what you unlock. I would hope they wouldn't.
I went pretty heavy into the Create-A-Finisher yesterday too. It maybe took me 20 minutes to design Justin Sane the Luchador (2 years ago, I was a pimp, this year I went Lucha) but oh man, the CaF is involved. I kept trying to come up with the kind of finisher a lucha would use. I eventually settled on Poison Mist -> Single Suplex -> Single Suplex -> Knee to the Gut -> Thumbs Down Taunt -> Suplex Lift Up -> Drop Down into a Stunner. It looks sweet but takes a long time to pull off. I might drop the Poison Mist and one of the Suplexes out of it to speed things up a bit. I can see it's length being a problem in Ladder, Cage and 3/4 way dance matches. The aeriel CaF is a bit more confusing though. You're giving a certain amount of air time to pull different spins, grabs, flips and other stuff. Almost like a skateboarding game. Messing with the speed, I was able to come up with a Slow Half Front Flip -> Second Half of the Front Flip -> Quick Corkscrew -> Splash finisher (I end up facnig the turnbuckle I jumped from) The issue I see so far is that the all the spins end well before I hit the splash, so I end up floating down onto the opponent. I'll probably go and lower the height to avoid this. The issue I have with the aeriel is that you can't start out with your back to the ring. Meaning no moonsault type maneuvers.
One thing I noted inside the CaF, for standing, is when you have a guy in a powerbomb position, there is the "Texas Destroyer Set Up" and then the next step of "Texas Destroyer Finisher." Yup, the Canadian Destroyer is in the game in CaF.
My biggest gripe so far is the horribly out of date roster. Some stuff, like Jeff Hardy and Miz being in his old clothes, are forgivable. Guys like Umaga still in the game? Completely unforgiveable. Edge as world champ? Unforgiveable. I must have spent a half hour with the roster and rivals editor cleaning shit up. There's a couple guys I had to move to "Free Agents" because they don't fucking work there anymore.
The roster thing is just something that wrestling games will always have to live with. I think the most update roster in any game was Smackdown 2 when it came out.
And it's probably because I haven't played Smackdown in a couple of years but I was seriously impressed with that quick look that was linked a page ago. The presentation is really slick (I like the new training facility) and the camera angles used during the match really improved, as well as the pace. I'm still bothered by how fast you build up a finisher though.
15 matches for CAW storyline mode? God its getting worse all the fucking time.
It's the first RAW of 2009 to Wrestlemania.
The storylines are supposed to be quick hits. Not long drawn out things where you hold the championship belt for 8 years repeating the same monthly storylines over and over again until you want to vomit. They're, as Yahtzee likes to say, short and punchy. It keeps them exciting.
So how many people create a wrestler as soon as they get the game and how many wait?
I always keep putting it off, mainly because I have this nagging feeling I'm missing some really cool unlockable design or move.
Bought the game after school yesterday, but did't even have a chance to open it. Today, Right after work I'll probably end up recording Glee and playing through. Definately playing as Edge just to unlock the Rock.
Speaking of which..I got the game of Walmart, so I missed out on the GS Austin promotion(though I apparently I got some unlockable arenas..woo I guess?) Anyone get him? How do the promos usually work?
I assume the promos work like they did when I pre-ordered Forza 2 and got a special car. You get a card that looks like one of the XBL points cards and you redeem it on the download screen. Special download just for you.

No...it's not. They're supposed to be single storylines encompassing the 3 months before WM.
They tried this with JBI and it didn't work too well. It's been 7 years since then and it's a lot better.

Would we use CAW, real wrestlers, or a mix? I think I just might pick this up tomorrow. I probably have $10 in Best Buy bucks that would get used.
