My friend just bought a used 8 gig 1st gen. iPod Touch today for $40.
It was only this much because the person that had it previously forgot the passcode for it and was completely locked out; what needs to happen when you do this is plugging it into the original computer it was synced with. This isn't going to happen because said original owner probably has no memory of it.

What I'm wondering, is if there is any way to circumvent the process of unlocking it, any way to completely restore it without the use of iTunes or being able to access any menus on the iPod itself.
If I forgot any details or there's anything else you might need, go ahead and ask and I'll see what I can find out.
