Welcome to the snapshot thread!
This thread was created as a way to post your photos and get more exposure (har har) without the pressure to give/receive criticisms. This thread is perfect for people who are just starting out, have pictures of their pets or children and want to know how to better themselves, or if you did a MASSIVE shoot and you don't really think they all need to be criticized, just bring them here!
I'll say that if you do have a really nice shot, whether or not it was on purpose, post it in the PHOTO! thread, because you'll be more likely to get critiques if that's what you want. Check out both threads!
Rules: 1. Nothing is unacceptable! This is a much easier going thread, so if you have a picture of your dog you'd like to share, SHARE IT! It doesn't matter, but don't post an insane number of images. It's not the PHOTO! thread, sure, but this isn't a photo dump either.
2. Don't spoiler images, that's still a "no don't do that"
3. Crits aren't necessary. At all. Don't feel like you have to give them, and don't expect them; that's what PHOTO! is for.
4. Don't break tables, dude. Keep images at un-obnoxious levels.
Hopefully this thread works. If it doesn't, well, poops. I will start off: THIS IS MY GIRLFRIEND!

the ac in general is sort of a crit place
people who post illustrations or drawings that they don't want crits on get chased out pretty fast it seems
so i dunno!
I have a bunch of friends who have DSLR's, and most of what they take are snapshots, even though they're trying to get better. If they have one shot they really like, it's encouraged they take it to PHOTO, but they shouldn't hesitate to bring the other shot here.
And for the pro's, if you have a lot of photos that you don't want to inundate PHOTO with, bring them here, people will still see them.
But if the admins want to shut it down, they can do it. It's up to them, really, but I see a lot of merit in it, and it's working well for other art forums I visit. if it flies: yay, if it doesn't, poops!
think of it as a doodle thread for photos

This is why I never stand near the edge of a big drop. I'm always scared I'm going to impulse jump.

Making mokume-gane. I'm on the right.

Edit:
Also, this is what I'm hitting before being heated. Its 21 separate layers of alternating material.
I took my dad to see Millennium Park because even though he lived in the city for a long time when he was a musician, he hadn't been there in years. A good thing to know about my dad is that he is the coolest man.

HAhahah!
Also I seem to remember Kevin in a Hat saying something about not wanting to go walking at Torrey Pines ever when I suggested it like a year ago.
Edit: I guess I didn't get the point of this photothread. OOps.
