Tycho is insane. Firefight matchmaking is a must.

The idea that firefight doesn't need matchmaking is one I find offensively ridiculous.
To refute this I don't think I need to say any more than Horde mode (or UT 2k4's Onslaught) in which people who would normally tell each other to devour their genitals suddenly cooperate and have a damn good time.

It's a well known fact that the internet douchebag is only a douchebag because he is in the business of winning for fun. You can tell this is true whenever you get into an argument with someone on the other team who is obviously totally wrong, and then some dork on his team jumps in and calls you a homo (even though his teammate is a moron and he knows it).

As soon as you guys are on the same team, he is not going to focus all his energy on hating you. He's going to focus it on killing aliens. This isn't theoretical either; anyone who has played Horde in any substantial amount will have bumped in to a whole bunch of awesome people simply by matchmaking.

Further, some people do not spend a great deal of time maintaining a huge list of active XBL friends. I was never very involved in it, and now that I spend 8 months a year away from my Xbox while at school, it is totally impossible. My real life friends are not even slightly interested in ODST, so that's out too.

So basically, unless you have a friends list FULL of EXTREMELY active people, you cannot play firefight whenever you want. That's ridiculous.

OP just joined today, big surprise.

What is it with people being offended by tycho so much they need to join the forum just to bitch? Do they really think people care? Or do I just have the bad luck to be here whenever this happens to it seems more prevalent than it actually is?

The idea that my opinion is less valid because I joined today is pretty dumb man.
And no, I'm not expecting them to read this, and it's not like I would change their minds.
And I've been meaning to do this for a long time, and now seemed like a good a time as any.

So carry on Board Protector, defend us from the barbarian invaders.

I love passive aggressiveness, I put that shit all over my cereal in the morning. Goddamn delicious

But in all seriousness, we have a perfectly functional ODST thread. You may want to look into bringing up the issue there.

    1) This is a dumb thread, and there is already a thread for Halo 3:ODST.

    2) OP, you make the assumption that people on your own team would never team wound / team kill / grief other players on their team. So I am going to make the assumption that you have never played an online game. EVER.

    3) Matchmaking is shit anyways, as you can see by Halo 3 and playing 10 games in a row where half your team quits five seconds into the game so its a 2v5 capture the flag. Bring back server lists.

    4) Yeah, the lack of random people for Firefight does suck (though Firefight is getting extremely boring after two days of playing it) but there is other ways around it. Like by not being a douche and getting active in the Halo 3:ODST thread where we start games up all the time. But it is a little too late for that now.

As dumb as not getting a sense for the community before posting? As dumb as assuming that when someone comments on your join date they're referring to your mental capacity?

So whereas that isn't at all what I thought before, you've managed to change my mind, thanks.

As dumb as pretending like you aren't implying my post is useless. As dumb as pretending like you actually changed your mind, and aren't just doing your best to be snappy. You will concede this, even if you don't admit it.

I searched firefight before posting this. This is the one and only.
