So this is quickly becoming one of my favorite new shows to hit in the longest time and I thought there were enough other people here that like it to deserve its own thread.

From Joe and Anthony Russo of Arrested Development fame, host of The Soup Joel McCale, Donald Glover from Derrick Comedy, SNL alumni and 80s movie legend Chevy Chase, and others comes . . .

Anyway this show is awesome, it has a phenomenal cast, and is by and large, fucking hilarious. Last Thursdays episode might be my favorite yet but even with the few there are its hard to choose.

If nothing else, you should watch Community because the show exudes pure unfiltered happiness and you'll feel good about yourself. Its hard not to watch a new episode without grinning like an idiot for awhile.

All of the professors have been great so far.

I really like John Oliver too. Especially in Social Psychology when
he breaks down trying to prove the Duncan Principle in the experiment he conducts. Also his line "I'm gonna write that down too, that's a good point."

The pilot is easily the weakest ep so far

It keeps getting better; Abed's film was superb, and I actually laughed out loud at last night's episode

I would agree with this, and I thought the pilot episode itself was really solid.

Having episodes that revolve primarily around specific characters (Pierce in Spanish 101, Abed in Introduction to Film, and Shirley/Alison in Social Psychology) has been a really good thing.

    gonna watch an episode

I hardly ever watch tv, but the OP had me interested at the words "arrested development" and "community college"

one of which I love and wish there was more of, the other of which is unfortunately very relevant to my life

    I hope this is good!

Nope, it's ratings are really good

I actually looked them up just now because I had no idea what they were and they are really impressive.

Ratings are in! We are a hit!
TVbythenumbers.com reports that Community Premiered with 7.7 million viewers overall! The show retained 93 percent of its 18-49 demographic lead-in “The Office.” So far so good. If we can just keep the Office numbers we should continue to grow! Cross your fingers.

(All ratings info supplided by: http://tvbythenumbers.com/2009/09/18/early-ratings-thursday-leno-slips-on-night-4/27603 )

    • From 9:30-10 p.m. ET, the series premiere of “Community” delivered a 3.7/10 in adults 18-49 and 7.7 million viewers overall, retaining 93 percent of its 18-49 lead-in from “The Office.” That’s NBC’s highest retention to date of an original “Office” lead-in in this time period.
    • “Community” scored NBC’s highest non-sports 18-49 rating and biggest non-sports overall audience in the time period since April 2, the night of the “ER” finale. “Community” won the time period in adults, men and women 18-34; adults, men and women 18-49; and adults and women 25-54.
Scarlet St. might have been referring to the Arrested Development connection just then of course too.

It actually dropped in the ratings last night because they moved it up an hour (because the Office was an hour long last night and also fantastic and also because 30 Rock is going in after the Office

but it also improved on NBC's numbers in that slot and NBC doesn't have a whole lot else to put on anyways and they let kath & kim run for a whole season so

basically NBC has somehow managed to put together a Thursday night of brilliant comedies.

now if only Fox would move Fringe to Wednesdays or something so I wouldn't have to wait until later to watch it on Hulu.

Fox probably won't move Fringe, they're getting better ratings for it there than they did for anything last year. And if they did move it, it'd probably be to Fridays. And actually? I think it'd do alright there. Better than anything they've had since the X-Files, at any rate. And to be perfectly honest, they're going to have some space to fill on Friday once they cancel Dollhouse.

I think Fringe is too popular for Fox to move it to Fridays, I mean it was a gigantic ratings success last year. Thats why they felt it was strong enough to hold up on Thursdays.
