oh, and I blame the drug culture that so many of you buy into, but I don't think I can blame my generation for that one.
what exactly is this to blame for

since it's been around for oh several thousand years

    two things

first of all, drug addictions (duh!). I'm going to be broad about this and say that addiction to any drug that is bad for you is a bad thing. That includes cigarettes, caffeine, cannabis, heroin, alcohol, or anything else. Many of these (cannabis, heroin, and most illegal drugs) also carry the risk of brain damage after long-term or even, for some, short-term use.

The second thing is the idea that there is actually some sort of benefit to the effects of psychotropic and similar drugs, which leads to less of a focus on reality and less of an urgency or a bias toward action.

okay, I thought of a good example. My dad has a little sailing boat that he loves to race on sundays. It's a 2 man boat, and the races are pretty exciting with sea spray, high speeds and billowing sails etc etc.

I could never get into it though because it takes about 1 hour to drive to the river, 2 hours to set up the boat and then you get about an hours race time. Then you have to pack the boat up and drive home. It's a whole days activity for about an hour of sailing. I'm just like what's the point
