That really is amazing. My only complaint is that my eye is lead more towards Jesus, rather than Gabe and Tycho. I think they blend in quite a bit.

This is sweet - ace work Sonic!

I like the way you've taken all the main elements of composition from the original, so it's perfectly clear which poster it's a homage to, even with the addition of extra characters etc.

The only thing that would make this better for me, is if you'd done it in the Hildebrandt's style.

    Still, great work. 8-)

I wanted to so badly, but I realized pretty quickly that I wasn't going to be able to emulate the "paintingness" well enough to make it work. One day I will be able to do believable mock vintage posters dammit, one day...

Super cool lighting, I like the moodyness of it.

One thing that sticks out to me is that the girls eye looks a little weirdly placed, like it's too close to the nose or something. I'm not sure though. Otherwise tops.

    This is looking sweet, Sonic.

Wouldn't there be a slight highligh on the guy on the right's eye? Light is hitting his ear and a large portion of his face, so my first thought was that the eye looks too dark. But just a minor point, and obviously it's still a wip.

    Looking good though!

His eye is looking really odd and I can't even put my finger on how to fix it other than saying, look at a ref, and its sort of ruining an otherwise amazing piece for me. I really like the treatments you've given it, especially the lighting. Overall really lovely with just one thing!! Love the skin and her hair.

Yeah, I don't know, I think its a combination of like... Everything else is really nicely sculpted by painting and colour, but his eye looker super cartoony and just drawn in? hers works because it's painted, his is just really flat.

I'm getting a real flat vibe from the profile faces.

The light sources offer very little definition in the faces. It's totally bizarre.

it might make things simpler to snap reference.

having said that I have a crititque about why his eye is looking odd. The way youve painted it shows no indication of the eyeball sitting in the socket, you have it looking like the side of the head flows right up to and around the eyeball. There is a step where you go up to the edge of the socket then turn the corner and then bump up against the ball of the eye.

that propably doesnt make much sense and Im to lazy for a draw over so check out

this image I grabbed off a quick google search illustrates pretty well

Hello again AC, you're looking sharp as ever. Really, very dapper. I've been a rather busy bee, but unfortunately not on many things I can show you. But there are things. I have things.

My friend and I finished one of our screenplays a little while back and decided a plain white cover just wasn't going to cut it. Illustration commenced:

    190510deadcoldcovercrop.jpg

    closer-ups if anyone cares:
    190510deadcoldcovercloseupfrank.jpg
    190510deadcoldcovercloseupalexpaul.jpg
    190510deadcoldcovercloseupreno.jpg

Also just for shits and giggles the screenplay in question is readily available here ...I should probably drop that in the writer's block.

And this is the next project that I plan on coloring. It's from that thing.

    061110milesdreams.jpg
I predict many failures on this one...

And then there's some really miscellaneous stuff like:

A band logo (dos colores por screenprinting. Also, personally I think that font has become overused, but they insisted :? )

    280510redreignfinal.jpg

And then there's the teeniest bit of what I'm doing for that comic I've been commissioned for:

    pg1inset2ink.jpg

    Hark, a hand-made Mother's Day card:

    cardsfrontback.jpg
    mothersdayinner.jpg

That's it for now. I'll be posting progress on the colors of that one soon.

Pretty awesome cover Sonic. I like. Really smart way to spruce up a screenplay too.

It seems like the characters could be enlarged some because I couldn't see a lot of the details until you posted the closeups.

I can't read things in screenplay form for some reason, but the first few pages sounded pretty cool and definitely like something I would watch. Good luck with it.

    Thank you guys.

Fug: I guess "hand-made" may not be the best descriptor... It is hand-made in the sense that I drew it with the tablet, layed it out in photoshop, printed it, colored it with colored pencils and used thin strips of cardboard and lots of double-sided tape to fashion it into an actual "card."

Is the rain effect going to stay that way? It sort of works in the black and white comic panels but with it being more rendered it looks super flat at the moment. Are you planning to layer it more?

Hey Sonic, you're stuff is looking good (as always) however I did notice something about your script. Are you making it yourself? Because it reads like a storyboard (well, atleast what I skimmed over). Normally you don't put specific shots in the script or what not.

I notice that your stuff always has this overly-animated cartoony vibe, even when the subject material doesn't seem suited for it. It's in everything from the movie poster to the latest piece. Also every one of these characters have these extremely long, slack-jawed chin lines for no real reason.

This style choice sort of kills the mood you're going for in some of these pieces.

i agree with iruka about the rain in that last piece. It feels more like a lazy photoshop filter than actual rain rain. That may not be the case but that's the vibe I'm getting.
