So Assassin's Creed 2 has way, way nicer achievements than Assassin's Creed 1. They aren't all tied up in (Collect all the X's).
There's two at the end, though. One is to collect all the feathers. The other is only possible once you've collected all the feathers.
This is where somebody points out that AC1 had those flags to intentionally waste the player's time. And some quote from a developer about how they think those sorts of things are stupid. Or something.
And that one in AC2 after collecting all the feathers? Sucked.
That's the site that I've been using. It is still quite time consuming. I feel like such a sucker running around and getting them because I know it is the dumbest cheapest way to extend the life of a game, but I am just a dirty achievement whore.
Yeah how do you get that achievement anyway? I put it on and fast-traveled to every city, I even wen to the Mountains, which I heard is required to trigger it, but still nothing popped up.
Did you visit your 'home' city? Did you actually enter all the cities?
I don't mind the Feathers as much because it feels a little more organic. I am collecting these things for a member of my family to make them feel better. The same thing in terms of mechanics, but the context makes me treat them more like something real than like "oh man I need to find 14/27 in this city then more to...".
Also, the achievements may seem to come easier because I actually enjoy doing things in AC2. Assassinating in 1 was really annoying.
I've said this before but if the flags and templar had just been in kingdom, it would have been perfectly fine. Riding around kingdom being a badass was some of my favorite parts of the game and you really don't have much reason to be there other than flags and templar.
Templar are a pretty cool "collectible" too, much better than flags or feathers.
Well, my Xbox died and I can't get it replaced for the next few weeks. I have a few Windows Live titles I'll get cracking on or something.
I know there's a trainer for Viva Piñata that helps speed up the tedious bits. Anyone know if there's something like that for Fuel?

I'm going through all the AC1 achievements now and those flags are a bitch. I'm down to flags, Templars, and pickpocketing 200 knives.
Knives are pretty easy, if you tend to throw a lot like I did then pickpocket every goon you see. Flags and Templars, though? Man, I don't think I'm going to bother.
Finally dropped Lego Batman in the tray again because we were sitting for some friend's kids - it's not as disappointing as I remember, but still feel too burned out on the previous Lego achievements to even try hard on this one.
Templars are easier than flags though, they tend to announce their presence when you get close.
Just pinged Millionaire Extraordinaire this morning in Hexic HD! Guess I've been playing that game long enough now. Still have not got a single black oyster piece though...

in games like BF:BC2 or CODMW2 i'm okay with them, beings as that the games multiplayer is a huge selling point. but yeah, overall if i see multiplayer achievements I'm kinda bleh about it.
I dislike secret achievements that don't give you any hints on how to unlock them, and you'd most likely never do the requirement without researching how to do it on the internet.
BioShock2's "9-Irony" achievement for example, at least tell me the names of the achievements so I can think about what I maybe need to do. The golf clubs were tucked away in a corner, I would have never even seen them if I hadn't been told about them.

Everyone has a price. Throw enough gold around and someone will risk disintegration.
I totally tried to pick them up with the intent of doing something along the lines of the achievement (without knowing it) but didn't think to TK them :?
Holy fucking shit. On Lego Star Wars: TCS, the last chapter of Episode III..... Fuck the volcano level so fucking much. My wife and I spent about 45 minutes dieing trying to get through the jumping parts. I hate any level that makes a game out of you running into unknown areas just because of the camera being absolutely terrible.
How the hell am I going to get True Jedi on that level? We ended up with 0 studs overall because we died 150 times.

By buying and turning on the x2, x4, etc. bricks. True Jedi is retarded easy once you buy and activate those things.

Oh... That doesn't prevent you from getting achievements? Truth be told I'm not even sure what achievements there are. I just assumed that True Jedi on all stages was one of them.

I don't remember if getting True Jedi on all levels is an achievement, but it goes toward your completion percentage and a 100% save is an achievement.

yes. 100% is, true jedi is too iirc.
you can turn on the cheats to do them. one of them is somewhat tricky (you have to beat the boss of a level while wearing a helmet).
but true jedi gets retardedly easy once you have an x1249023414 multiplier or whatever the hell the multiplier bricks stacked to. It also makes the "max the stud counter" achievement simple too.

+2 for fucking multiplayer achievements.
I am currently being taught by the boobie lady*.
Game is nice, but it is frustrating that the achievements stop unlocking after playing for a certain length of time until I restart, at least for in-fight achievements.
Also, it is revealing that I am not very good at 2D fighters anymore.

BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger. DON'T EXPLAIN THE JOKE
EDIT: Well, that's frustating, I know I've picked all 24 colours for Iron=Tager and no boop. Clearly I have played for too long.
For the color one you gotta pick em from the drop menu, no hitting a button to get it.
Yep, I have been. I am fairly sure I haven't missed any. Funfortunately, I am colourblind, so I can't be sure. But also, the acheivements stop popping for me after a few hours of playing unless I restart. So, I think I just hit that wall.
And Metro 2033 is 1000/1000'd. now onto Just Cause 2.
I also asked this in the Just Cause 2 thread, but do you know of any vehicle location guides for that game? That's going to be the barrier between me and 1000/1000 otherwise.
nopers, not a clue. If it's anything like the first one, each area has a specific set of cars, and from the 20 minutes that I've played they seem to make heavy use of achievement counters...
My guess is at this point that it would come naturally as you progress to 100% completion for each spot.

I am considering triple- and quadruple-dipping on a game I already own.
Batman: Game of the Year Edition on PS3 and 360 will have the same Trophy/Achievements as the original, but are listed as separate games, totaling two Platinums/2000 points to replay one of the best games of the last few years.
Because Arkham Asylum is one of my favorite games in recent memory, and I currently replay it all the time anyways, even though I stand to gain nothing from it other than enjoyment (I'm currently at...six, I think, 100% playthroughs)
Might as well spend a little cash once the price drops and grab some Achievements/Trophies from it.
The closest I'll come to doing this is Episodes from Liberty City. And mainly so I can listen to Fernando and the '80s station that is exclusive to the disc-only version. (Grumble grumble grumble.)
Honestly, it doesn't bother me if you did it. Though it's still kind of lame... What does this GOTY edition have that differentiates itself?

His point is that you're basically paying for gamerscore, since the game is the exact same.
You'd get the same enjoyment of simply replaying the game you already own, but you're willing to spend $40-$60 on the exact same game because it gives you more gamerscore.
Only jokingly so, just to be clear. I don't seriously judge anybody who does anything similar, even with TLA. But that won't stop me giving them shit for it.
Pfft, I totally bought Nuts & Bolts the other day to quickly push me over 20000.
I admit, I have a problem. On the other hand, it's really not that bad a game. And as far as I'm concerned, it's basically a Banjo Kazooie game. Only instead of collecting useless crap to collect more useless crap, you get to collect useless crap to unlock really cool crap.

New challenge rooms and the game is in 3D
That's it? Pass. I rather detested the challenge rooms (make it DLC for god's sake!) and the last time I cared about 3D was my old View-Master toy. (Which, admittedly, was cool for some of the '60s Batman TV show discs.)

On the most recent Giant Bombcast they said that you can get a total of 5000 points on Live from Batman. 360 version, PC version, Japanese 360 version, 360 GotY and PC GotY.
There's probably someone out there crazy enough to get all of them.
By the way, it probably doesn't take much work to qualify your game as something different for a whole new set of Achievements, right?
Because anyone doing GOTY editions from now on should do this, it'll definitely appeal more to some of those Achievement Whores out there for little to no cost.

I have so say that's a nice game, and it also felt good to drop ~800 GS on game in like 10 - 12 hours of play.
Rank based multiplayer. The best way to screw you out of 1000/1000 if you miss the initial wave.
