Oh, I also 1000'd Enchanted Arms in a single playthrough, but that doesn't count.
A single playthrough? gah!
I've got a fairly healthy tolerance for sub par RPGs, but a single playthrough, mein gott!
EDIT: Wait, you don't mean a single session, do you?
I withdaw my commentts
You see, you can't beat Enchanted Arms without getting 1000 achievement points.
I'm not about to sit down and play that game start to finish without stopping, are you insane? I wouldn't have made it through the prologue if I couldn't take a break every now and again.
Last night I beat 'Splosion Man on Hardcore. Thats the single most satisfying achievement Ive ever gotten. Which was followed by whats EASILY the best ending to a video game in history.
The coolest part is that there's a leaderboard, simply called "You Are Awesome", where everyone has a score of 1 point. It's just a chronological list of everyone who has the achievement.
I'm like 1146ish. Thats pretty awesome.

I think one of my most proud achievements was in Burnout Paradise. You had to have 6 of the high scores of the day in a game of eight people. It was not easy getting, much less holding enough records/high scores without someone else messing up your record while trying to get the other ones.
But after much work, I finally got it...it was awesome.

There are more multi achievements than single though...that's what made the game a bit more irritating to me. Playing the game with Random's is pure suck in a can in most cases though.
There's an achievement in Prince of Persia for you to have the princess save you less than 100 times during the game. It's quite vague but I assume it just means "don't die".
All I have left in Borderlands is the race (don't even know where it is), getting the hunter and soldier skill kills, and hitting lv 50 (I'm lv 42). It's really easy to get 100%.
Bioshock - Actually, I have a question on this. I only need to beat the game on hard for one achievment and the other is brass balls which I'm getting conflicting reports on. Do I beat the game on hard with vita chambers turned off (I turned them off as soon as I could) or do I have to beat it in a single playthrough without dying once?
I'm actually doing this now.
It's a pain. Not because it's hard, but because getting the software conditions right is hard. You have to play through without ever having been booted to a vita-chamber. Even if you load immediately after, it still counts and will nerf teh achievement.
There's also issues with you having to have both the DLC and the software update active (you can tell that this is the case when there are 51 acheivements displayed in the profile and you have the option of turning off the vita-chamber). Which you should do.
If that isn't the case then you need to clear the system cache, start a new gamer profile and use that to download the DLC and system update, then play with your original profile. The problems most often arise when your XBOX has rrod'd and you get a new one.
This time around because Big Daddies are so much more of a challenge I can watch t hem interact w ith the Little Sisters. I always felt bad about killing them, but now I feel really bad. Watching them pat the little sisters on the head or take their hand is heartwarming, and then heart breaking when I launch a flaming barrel at them.
Okay, phew. I've got all that checked (and vita chambers off so I can't mess this up either).
A few friends and I are having an achievement race, so I borrowed Madden 09 from my brother for some easy achievements. As it turns out, some of the achievements don't feel like unlocking even when you go above and beyond the requirements.

I hate glitched achievements so much.
I've been trying to get one of Lego Indiana Jones achievements forever now. I'm at 980 and just need the "use a wrench 50 times" achievement to be done.
I'm at about 120 times and it hasn't unlocked yet.

The stupid "use [biotic power] 75 times" in Mass Effect were the last achievements I needed and they each took like 250+ uses, arrrgh.
In addition, the ally achievements unlocked at completely random times (Wrex much later than Liara despite getting Wrex sooner) o_O

I think if you go into the level "Pursuing the Ark," there's a lift right at the beginning that can be repaired over and over again, because after the lever rises twice it breaks again.

I once had an achievement bugged in a good way. In Assassin's Creed, I once climbed onto the top of a building and fell through it. I fell for about two minutes in a white void and when I finally hit the (invisible) bottom it unlocked the achievement for beating 100 enemies in a row.

Should be able to get it there in one sitting.
Now see, this is the kind of achievement grinding I just don't get. If an achievement is easy, challenging or fun to get, then sure go for it. But to sit doing something you are gaining no enjoyment from, over an over, just to get a 'ping' and a few points on an arbitrary score? Screw that, life's too short.
For example, new Princie of Persia. There's an achievement for getting all the Light Seeds. This I will go for as it will be an enjoyable experience to fully explore every land for all its hidden goodies. There's also an achievement for triggering every combo in the game. To manage this would take much less time but would also only be managed by printing out a long list of button presses from GameFAQs and working my way slowly through them. Sounds like no fun at all. Screw that noise.

I too like my arbitrary pings. It doesn't sound like it would take that long to get that wrench achievement by grinding though. Worth it if you ask me. I was reading an achievemnt guide for Gears of War 2 and there was a step by step guide to get Seriously 2.0 by grinding the same thing for something like 6 hours straight! That's nuts.
The achievement of which I'm most proud is the one for killing Jar-Jar in Lego Star Wars enough times.
It's not as if it advertises my pro gaming skillz or adept exploring, but I do feel that it makes my feelings known quite clearly on certain matters with Star Wars.

Yeah that one actually made me chuckle when it unlocked.
I was thinking of picking up Assassin's Creed again recently now that it's cheap, but I remembered a bugged Achievement that pissed me off.
The 100 counter-attacks one. The damn thing was just not triggering. When I was Achievement-hunting towards the end of the game, I sat there and just constantly got into fights, and kept my own personal count...countered over 400 times and never got it. I eventually sold the game a little while after.
Then I was looking through my Achievements the other day and...oh, apparently I got that Achievement on like the second day I owned the game and somehow never noticed. :?

This happened when I was playing ODST with some friends on co-op. We ran through the whole game on Legendary, and afterward no achievements popped up for any of us. We were all thinking "what the fuck?" until I checked my profile and saw the achievements there. The actual unlock "ding" and notification showed up half an hour later.
I've got plat on Uncharted 2 and Demon's Souls. Missing one freakin blast shard in infamous and am 2 trophies away on Uncharted 1. The most infuriating of all though is I still havn't gotten Hat trick in blaze blue. "Performe All Green, Great Wheel and 13 Orphans in one match". I've done all 3 Distortion drives in one round before and have yet to unlock it.
There should be a "Left your dog behind when it was injured and limping and couldn't keep up" achievement.
Like, negative achevements.
They do have negative achievements but they dont take points away they just count for 0 and look bad. Funny thing is theyre usually secret so even if you get it people wont know unless they get it as well and I dont know.

TMNT: The Arcade Game had a zero achievement for falling down a manhole five times. :P
There are three 0 point achievements in Secret Service.
"Sharpshooter" - Fire off an entire clip without hitting anything.
"Pindropper" - Kill yourself with your own grenade.
"The exact opposite of your job" - Shoot the president.
I was playing Need For Speed: Prostreet, and I got the achievement for dominating a race day, but didn't get the one for just beating a race day. I went through and did the whole thing again just in case, and still nothing. Weird.

I think all three of them need to hit, and they need to be done in the listed order. I was having the same issue with the PS3 verison, and doing them in order worked out for me.

WoW has terrible achievements that not only do I not know, I dont want other people to know. Theres shit in there they award from time sinks that make you want to cut yourself after you realize how much you have done in the game.
Stuff like 1000 badges(item drops from bosses that are like currency for gear that everyone gets), or 1000 quests completed. I dont want to know that shit. Everytime I get one like that, I die a little more inside. It's a deterrent to play, and I dont get how blizzard hasnt figured that out yet.
I know achievements are worthless and I really shouldn't waste my time doing them, but they just draw on my OCD completionist nature and I am powerless to stop. This weekend, TF2 has five temporary achievements (One of which gets you a temporary hat) and I still had to get them all.
I've also been playing through HL2:Episode 2. I only have one achievement left, but I don't want to follow a guide, I want to get it on my own. And...

Pretty much. Any time you encounter a point where she would automatically jump in to rescue you. However, it's a buggy achievement. I forget the particulars, but it depends upon which save you load from (manual vs auto). The counter is apparently reset every time. Either that, or 100 is just a huge number to reach because I was certain I'd surpassed it.
I think GH3 had a 0 point achievement for failing a song on easy.
GH3 has some of the worst achievement allotments. Something like 400 points wrapped up in 10 individual achievements and all of them requiring multplayer. And most of those requiring same-room multiplayer instead of using the XBL multiplayer. Way too many five and ten point achievements.
I hate achievements that restrict the way you can play for an extended ammount of time.
Things like, Mass Effect ally achievements, GTA 4 Complete story under 30 hours achevement, etc. Ones like "Complete mission X using only one weapon" etc can be fine, and the Save One Bullet from The Orange Box is a sorta exception.
The Mass Effect types take away from the game since you can't experiment or are forced down a path. And the ones like the GTA achievement are just so long missing them can alienate you from the game.
There really should be a checklist for developers.

Haha same here, although the worst part was grinding out the Monster Dismantler when I reached the end of the game and was nowhere close.
I'm having a lot of fun with the achievements in Borderlands... not too complicated and overall fit with the game.
