This is bizzare, I'm almost convinced I made a thread here awhile back asking about headsets and yet when I did some searching I was unable to find the thread again. Even more bizzare being that I have a bookmark to a headset that looks nice, and I cannot for the life of me remember where I got it from, only that I never actually ended up ordering it for a reason that also escapes me.

Ah well, onto the topic at hand! So my headset's all but dead and I've decided this would be a pretty good time to get a new one, being as well... I have virtually no sound right now. Needing a new headset sooner rather than later, it seems my best bet is to order one from Newegg today and hope for the best. And wanting a shiny new headset that doesn't suck I've decided to suck it up and spend more than I usually do on a pair of headphones.

Unfortunately this still caps me out at about sixty bucks.

To that end, this is the headset I'm currently eying. It's about the most money I can afford to spend right now, and all around seems like it'd be a step up from what I've usually had before. Seems alright from the reviews, certainly better than the 30 dollar crap I'm used to I'm sure.

If anyone has some suggestions for the 40-60 dollar range though I'm open to suggestions, and if I had to I could probably shoot about as high as 70. What I linked seems like it'd be about the best deal I'm gonna find here, but then I don't know a whole lot about headsets in general so I'm not entirely sure. I'll be using it for both gaming and listening to music, as well as voice chatting with friends, so a decent general purpose headset would be useful.

Something I feel I should stress is while I'm sure this isn't much money for a headset, I'm unable to work with a price much beyond what I've suggested. I'd like to keep it somewhere around 50 or 60 dollars tops. I could hypothetically go further than that, but it would have to be a massive difference for only 10 or 20 more dollars kinda deal for me to do that.

There's also a bit of a time element, if at all possible I'd like to go ahead and get a headset ordered today rather than put it off any longer.

I've just recently bought myself a pair of these bad boys.

Haven't had a chance to test them out, they're currently sat still boxed up at home, so I can't give you a personalised review of them. However, everywhere I've looked has given them a glowing review.

Those... do look pretty sweet.

And they also look like they fit around the ears rather than on them, which I prefer immensely for comfort reasons. (as well as blocking out sound around me)

... I'm gonna have to think about this... really, they seem almost too good to be true. Surround sound in a headset?

Well having tried them out I can confirm the sweetness of these. Also yes, they are fitted around/over the ear rather than on them, which is infinitely more comfortable. It's worth noting that I have a ridiculously large head, so if they're comfortable for me, they should be comfortable for pretty much anyone!

The only thing I can think of as a negative is that they're not exactly pretty, but if you're like me you'll be wearing them sat in a darkened room wearing only your underwear and a thin layer of Cheeto dust. So the aesthetics of them shouldn't be too much to worry about.

Good sound quality and everything? Well then! Though I can't help but notice the page you linked says the item hasn't been released yet and that it's a pre-order, what gives? Or did you order them from somewhere else or something?

EDIT: Yeah, Newegg has them listed as not coming out untill the 26th so I'm a little confused...
