My flatmate is getting this, and has offered for us to do a co-op play through. Should be good fun.

hahah, apparently Brandon (or "Brandouche" as he was dubbed by NeoGAF) is in that stream InitialDK linked and is telling people to watch his stream cause he is so much better than this dude.
So, cool to see the game in action (actually, it's making the wait for it way worse...), but I seriously do not understand how people enjoy FPS games on consoles. It just seems so imprecise and clunky.
(Not trying to start another console vs. PC shitstorm, but...yuck.)

pretty sure it has something to do with the other aspects of the experience making up for it
Is that an alien weapon he was shocking people with?
Yeah, it seems to do direct damage, shock them, distort gravity, and was wrecking those one guys with one shot.
This guy is the best I've seen, skill wise.

Lilith is suddenly looking really cool! Now I'm torn between her and Brick.
Brandon's livestream has really made me wary of Mordecai gunslinger, and Roland doesn't seem as fun.
Roland is somewhat lacking skillwise when playing solo since several of his stills are tied into team support, team ammo regen, team health regen, straight healing, supply drops and a whole bunch of other things tied to the turret. It gives him a distinct lack of flair as opposed to the phasewalk and berserk but on the other hand, infinite ammo rocket launcher!!

The advantage I'm seeing for Lilith and Brick is that for the most part they aren't tied to specific guns. I can see people rolling Roland & Mordecai and only wanting to use rifles/shotguns/pistols to match their sweet 5% bonus skill they just invested in. Siren and Berserker players don't seem to have that mentality as much.
Hell this Lilith is owning more with pistols than any hunter I've seen yet.

the plan is to constantly run out of shields for extra damage. and to berserk a lot. and be useless half of the time. none of the "on kill" skills because i don't see the point in it against bosses

As someone was saying earlier, Liliths will likely want SMGs for high ROF. They've got a lot of skills with percentages on a hit. More hits equals a better chance to proc.

In my experience it hasn't been much of a problem with Roland as he only has two weapon specific skills and only the one for shotguns has a damage boost component. Mordecai is the worst off when it comes to being forced to use certain weapons but the other three are fairly equal.
Yea watching Mordecai being played, he has the least appeal now. I dont want to snipe basically, and if i did build him, i would put everything into making my bloodwing all powerful. Something to do later on maybe, but id rather build a berzerker Brick, than any Mordecai build.
Lilith has some major appeal with that increased fire rate, elemental damage, and increased critical dmg.
My plan with Brick is to boost my toughness and use whatever gun seems like the most fun/coolest at the time. Switch when I find something new or run out of ammo. Occasionally, I'll punch skags.
Edit: For the love of god. Would this guy just go collect the damn skag meat to get rid of the stupid mission?
Lilith and Mordecai are comparable when it comes to non specific weapon skills.
Both have crit (mord 30 lilith 25)
both have accuracy (mord 25% lilith 35%)
rate of fire increases (mord 40% after a kill, lilith 25% all the time)
and both have +bullet damage (mord 40% after a kill, lilith 10% & 20% all the time).
Lilith gets increased chance to apply elemental effects and 100% bullet velocity
Mordecai gets shield penetration, and a chance at a killer shot.
I'm really looking forward to seeing what some of the other types of alien guns do. I'm also already having nightmares about the "items of the day". It's going to be painful to see something awesome and not afford it only to watch it disappear.

I think the hardest thing about this game will be finding a gun that looks awesome, but isn't really all that great mechanically. I swear to god, each and every revolver I've seen so far has been jaw droppingly sexy, but some of them just suck. That's going to make me sad inside.

And really, FO3 only had like a dozen guns, and half of those were just unique reskins of the base class

I just don't think there is any comparison game play wise. Both are first-person perspectives in crapsack worlds where you gain XP. To me that's where it ends. I was a fan of Fallout 3 but I think this game is going to be 10x more fun and have way more longevity for me.

Well, FO3 is probably the best known FPS & RPG had a baby game, that or Bioshock (or Mass Effect? System Shock(s) certainly aren't as well known.) So the comparison isn't without merit.
Plus wandering around a hostile wasteland.
Plus vaults.
Of course, FO3 is much more an RPG with some shooter blended in than BL, which is shooter first and other stuff later. Other stuff like a woot-off. This game will destroy me.
Just to give a heads up folk in charge of the 360 group thing i sent a request to play with you jolly fine chaps but just incase it doesn't work or i sent it wrong my GT is Macca420 can you add me if there is nothing from me in the inbox.... cheers in advance
I've seen a few things that make me worry about the people who are dead set on waiting for the reviews. I've seen multiple sources now that have information that is just plain wrong. One place said that the enemies levels scale with you and another place said there was no fast travel in the game. Except enemies don't scale in level and there is fast travel...
I'm pretty confident this game is going to be a hit. During the Fallout 3 streams it was a pretty mixed bag of people saying it was dog shit but in these streams the majority seems to be way into it.

Bonus: Person playing doesn't appear to speak.
Edit: Ok it's not the real Brandon.
Lilith has a "Mercenary" on right now. That seems more like a Roland thing going purely by name.

yeah the phase walking/elemental attack is pretty cool to see. i was already considering her and this stream is reinforcing that decision.
The fact that I'm already thinking about it doesn't bode well for time spent on this game.

I think that will give me plenty of quick melee bashing Phase Walk, along with tonnes of bullet damage.
Or is this better? More emphasis on Phasewalk melee damage.
Edit: Or get both, as you'll be taking lots of damage phasewalking into a group of enemies.
