First Watercolor pencil picture that ive completed. ever. Suggestions? (may be large)
to add: I drew Vergil from Devil May Cry 3 on the fly paper of my friends book.
This one is acrylic
stole his book for the night to scan this.
host your occular orifices on this!
Not to be mean, but yeah you're being paranoid as in irrational. Your work isn't something people are going to steal yet.
While there's clearly potential, you're a bit too inspired by anime/manga/Final Fantasy to start. I'd recommend, as has already been mentioned, that you start some figure studies, etc. before trying to accomplish what you're aiming for here.
MagicToaster he's (she?) being pretty open to critique no need to blatantly harass him. I thought we waited for newbs to embarass themselves before we throttled them.
PEOPLE HERE USED TO BELIEVE IN SOMETHING.
WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE IN? HUH? WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE IINNN!?
And, yeah, you need to build your fundamental drawing skills my friend. But just speaking to the water color pencils, (I never got that, it's like water color for people with control issues, which is ironic, but I digress), it's too muddy, and the sword, that's supposed to be on fire is muddled in browns and blacks. With water color you have to be patient and build up your colors gradually. And you have to be very deliberate with your placement, there are no take-backsies with water colors, even if you get most of it up, the paper is stained.
Deliberateness, patience, planning.
And the watermark isn't fucking necessary. It's not that great of a drawing for someone to steal it (if you're stealing might as well steal the best), and it's just distracting (I mean look at MagicToaster she can't help herself).
- Head is too small (already been said).
- Sword arm looks very awkward.
- The pose in general is...unattainable. Try to hold your body in that pose. It hurts like hell.
- Everything is disjointed. The parts don't seem to fit together properly. His back leg bends like rubber, while his front leg is straight as as board. His outstretched arm appears to be growing out of his chest. No sense of depth. Confusing shadows on the body. Clothing gives no sense of the form beneath it. Angle of torso is impossible to guess based on the drawing alone.
I kind of like the costume a bit, though. Those spikes on the back boot look pretty neat.
Thanks for the input.
I was looking at alot of the stuff on the tutorials and that stuff seems look like a good place to start.
As for the water color pencils, ("it's like water color for people with control issues") thats exactly what I have. I know I have alot of work to do. Thank you for posting constructive input.
hey kudos to you for using real media, it's rare to see that sort of thing nowadays,
but yeah man, ditch the watermarks
i rarely even put my name on my stuff, it's just completely unnecessary
especially at this stage in the game, i'm sorry to say it, you're just not really on the top of people's "art to steal" list.

All of the pertinent ones, anyway.

Basically, you're trying to run before walking.
ALso, the chin in the devil whatever painting needs work. Right now it looks as if he has a massive pale tumor sprouting from it.

Because I know you'll know where this is from:
"Fighting was the only thing... the only thing I was good... but at least I always fought for what I believed in..."
