I just upgraded to 1920x1200, and I would almost consider 1680x1050 the minimum that I could play with the addons I use right now.

I wish I could remember. All I know is that I'm not using an addon to replace it, I just popped it in the fonts folder. If I think of it, I'll post.

It was quite convenient as it had a condensed version that I used for the chat font.

Edit: the font is Expressway by Typodermic. It can be found on dafont.com and it is completely free. The condensed or narrow version is a good chat font replacement. Instructions on how to change fonts by using the Fonts folder in the game directory can be found on the interbutts.

I won't lie, though: I wish the game could use other font formats so that I could put Helvetica in there instead. Helvetica's hard to find as .ttf.

So, I bought a new computer and will probably use this as an excuse to redo my UI.

I'm switching some Addons, like replacing Aloft with TidyPlates/Threatplates.

Should I replace Pitbull 3 with 4 or are there better options?

Also how do you people deal with Buffs/Debuffs? I currently use ElkanosBuffBars but in Raids the list of my buffs or target debuffs is just too long. On the other hand I want to see if I have all needed buffs and in PvP/5mans seeing only my debuffs on the target is also not enough.

I use Elkano's as well, as you can see from the screen shot. That said, I have the same issue as you (way too many buffs in raids), and setting up Satrina's is a pita....so I'm writing my own. Overkill? Probably. Fun and interesting? Totally.

I like Bison for buffs, needs a small amount of tweaking but it works for me. I liked Elkanos at first but it takes up too much real estate for what it does imo. I run 1920x1080.

I use fortexorcist for monitoring target debuffs that I care about (mainly ones cast by me).

Pitbull 3 to 4 is a bit of a jump config wise. Their is a 2 part youtube series (blocked at work or I would find the links) which explains configuring it. After spending a few weeks with it when it first rolled out I cannot see going back to the hell that is pitbull 3 config.

I still use Elkano's but its mostly for debuffs - if you just want to see if you have all the right buffs try BuffEnough - it looks at the classes in your raid/group and figures out if you have all the buffs you should have (and has a button you can click to announce anything you might be missing). Sometimes has problems with pally buffs depending on number of pallies and which blessings you want, but its really really useful to have one thing that I can glance at and figure out if I've gotten everything.

The only issue I have with Satrina's is it has to 'learn' buffs and debuffs for boss fights and such. Not a huge deal, but something to think about. I didn't think setting it up was that bad, but it will still require some time from you. I'd say maybe 20 mins or so, depending on what you want it to do.

PitBull was too much of a pain to set up pretty much every time I've tried to use it. ShadowedUF seems to straddle the ease/functionality line fairly well. It's at least worth taking a look.

Also, Quartz does a good job of monitoring debuffs now and takes very little config time.

Make a /Fonts/ folder in your wow directory.
Copy your chosen .ttf file four times
    Rename copies to: ARIALN.TTF, FRIZQT__.TTF, MORPHEUS.TTF, and SKURRI.TTF

Delete the folder if you want to change them back to the defaults.

Those're the ones WoW uses. Friz Quadrata is the standard text font, Arial Narrow is the chat font, Morpheus is the in-game mail and quest title font (awful), Skurri is the font that shows damage and healing and shit on character portraits if you're using the default UI (also awful)

I changed mine to Expressway for the regular one, Expressway condensed for chat, Georgia for in-game mail, and I didn't need to replace skurri because loldefaultui.

Just pop the fonts into the Fonts folder you create and rename the file for desired effect.

Nope. Well, unless you can edit the ace libraries

The ace libraries use whatever font the client is using for any of the above, though. Say you wanted to replace friz with helvetica, all ace addons set to use friz would automatically use helvetica because it uses the game's font. To be fair, this method is a very simplistic way of changing fonts, but also the easiest, most all-encompassing, and BEST

Thanks for all the advice RE: buff mods.

Someone recommended Buff Enough, that seems discontinued, but I found a successor in Energized. That just displays a green or red icon (or Titan panel button) to tell me if I have all the raid buffs. Seems nice, but I haven't tried it in a raid yet.

For buffs I tried Satrina's, but they somehow look uglier than the standard Blizzard buff icons. And there isn't even an "only my buffs/debuffs" option, that I could find. I'd have to check that box for every single spell manually. I'm not going to do that.

For now, I'll run with the default Blizzard buffs/debuffs, while using Quartz for target/focus and TellMeWhen for the 2-4 buffs/procs I care about. Maybe I'll replace the last one with Elkano's again, not sure yet.

What I'd really like is an easy way to switch between "Show me all buffs/debuffs of my target" and "show me only my buffs/debuffs on my target".

Pitbull 4 config seems better than 3 on first glance, but I noticed that almost every unit frame I use has a different layout, so the new way doesn't really cut down on config time for me.

I still have to configure Grid, TidyPlates, Clique, TellMeWhen and maybe redo my action bars on some chars. And then when 4.0 hits, I'll probably do it all over again.

For fonts I got used to Twentieth Century, which comes with SCT and is very readable for me. I especially like the numbers.

I don't really like the new pitbull config, but it might just be because I am familiar with the old nested menus.

If all you want is to see buff/debuffs on you or your target, NeedToKnow does a pretty good job of it. It's just customizable bar timers, but it's considerably easier to configure than EBB.

The new style of creating a layout and then applying it to a unit frame is a bit inconvenient for unique layouts (like my target frame uses a layout unlike any other unit frame) but I think it makes up for it by making copying layouts easier. That never really worked for me in 3.

I'm going to again warn against TellMeWhen if you're worried about precise timing. It delays 1.0s before letting you know when a proc occurs or an ability comes off cooldown. I've noticed similar lag in POWA. It's the reason why I use Watcher and Quartz to keep an eye on timers.

While not a huge deal, the difference can mean 1-2 GCDs, which adds up pretty quick.
