the end was the least scary part of this movie

    I mean
They already told you both characters are dead in frame 1 of the movie when Paramount thanks the families for letting them use the film. It's not like something terrible was happening to the guy once Micah ran downstairs and suddenly everything went silent; he was dead for like 45 seconds and you're just waiting for the shoe to drop-- staring at a empty room for added effect, and before that scene you already knew katie was possessed as all fuck.

Yeah, I wasn't surprised to find out that that scene was added in at the request of the studio or whatever.

    Steven Spielberg, apparently.

You know that the story is not real right?

    Or it could be

I thought Trick r' Treat was a pretty solid little movie. I loves stuff with more than one story that tie into each other in little ways.

anthology movies are really cool but you don't see many of them. And most of the ones I've seen don't have as much attention to detail with interconnecting stories a Trick r' Treat did.

But I would suggest checking out The Twilight Zone movie if you haven't seen it

So I just hit up Google to see what the original ending was, and I can honestly say it is twenty times better and probably would have put the film in a much more positive light.

    ORIGINAL ENDING SPOILER:
This ending initially repeats what we see in the other two endings. We watch through the camera as the couple sleep. Then suddenly Kate sits straight up, gets out of bed, walks over to Micah and stands over him staring at him for a few hours. Then she walks out of the bedroom and we hear her going downstairs. After a few minutes tick off the clock, we hear Kate screaming. Micah wakes up, screams to Kate that he is coming to help her, and he darts out of the room. For the next few minutes you just see an empty bedroom with the ticking clock and you hear both Kate and Micah screaming and a lot of commotion like they are fighting. After a few minutes, the screaming stops and it is silent. After a minute or two of silence, you hear a loud stomping sound (like something very heavy is coming up the stairs).

From here, the ending diverges: Kate walks into the bedroom covered in blood and holding a large butcher knife down at her side. She walks into the room very heavy and stiff-like. She walks right up to the camera so that the upper half of her body is in the shot (but she isn't staring into the camera or looking at you, she's sort of looking downward), and then she simply pulls up the knife and slashes her throat in one quick, graceful movement, and falls down on the ground. The camera keeps rolling so we just see an empty bedroom for a few seconds and then the camera shuts off and the movie ends.

Seriously, why couldn't that have been it?

certainly sounds better than what I've heard the real ending is

    The original ending
: This time, Micah stays downstairs as Katie returns to the bedroom, covered in blood and now holding a knife. She proceeds to rock on the floor next to the bed for something like two days straight.* We hear a friend (the girl who offered that Katie stay at her place, I'm guessing) leave a message on their answering machine, wondering where they are. She later stops by, presumably finds Micah dead downstairs, screams and leaves. The police then show up later, with Katie only awakening from her catatonic state as they come up the stairs, with guns drawn. She's covered in blood, holding a knife and very confused as to what's going on, and so the officers proceed to fire on her. The title card then dedicates the film to the couple's memory.

I thought this movie was head and shoulders above more horror movies.
Older movies like the exorcist, rosemarys baby and the like are scary... new movies like Saw and whatnot are terrible (this is opinion only mind you) in comparison to this.

If you can empathize and put aside skepticism for 2 hours I think you'd take a lot more out of this movie.
I mean seriously, right when Micah says "I can handle this." I would have been like "Hey pal, fuck you!"
Honestly, dude had one terrible idea after another.

This movie sucked. I saw it on friday and there were only like 4 scary parts. Those parts weren't even all that scary it was just they were so unexpected because the movie was dull and moved so slow, so when something happened it was like ohshit.

I could understand that boyfriend's fascination and cockiness. If I witnessed paranormal phenomena, I'd want to test it too and would probably convince myself it posed no harm, which would then lead to me pressing my luck. He definitely should have become concerned much earlier, though. Still, even if he had it would have been too late.

Curious though, how far does he go with this? Does he claim that a lot of everyday things are the work of demons, or does he just hold that cases of possession occur from time to time?

Oh hey, possession happens all the time? We should probably get some proof then, so we can validate all those religious texts that posit the existence of demons, thus setting the stage for a worldwide spiritual revolution. I'm surprised nobody has thought of this before!
