[3D Dot Game Heroes] Dash Circuits are the new Chocobo Race
Posts
I love the character editor, and it was hard to actually play the game and not keep making stuff.
EDIT: Here's the picture I took with my iPhone to text a buddy who didn't believe I could make Cthulhu:
From Cave
I'm on the second dungeon, and while its certainly a Zelda clone, it does it well enough (and with enough humor) to look the other way.

Does anyone know how delayed the "Find in Store" stuff is on their websites? I hate trying to explain to some pleb on the phone what game I'm looking for.
Also, I'm looking forward to making some old-school Dragon's Quest characters.

I believe Best Buy and Gamestop upload their sales to their inventory servers on a nightly basis, so earlier in the day it should be fairly accurate. Although the websites don't know if a game is stolen, and also doesn't take into account employee's hiding copies they are going to buy for themselves.

I imagine at the very least that there's seven: 1 for each orb and then the final one.

Come to think of it, though...time to make a gremlin character.
Best 3d hero ever? I think yes.
Anyone have any general tips for character creation? I'm sure I'll find a way to put hours into a character and have it turn into a mess because of a stupid mistake... Actually, the big thing I'm wondering about is how animation is handled. It looks like (from online images and such) you make five or six 'frame' models? Are player made heroes less animated than the default ones?
Edit: Oh man, so many ideas and good references at this site, though I don't know if it will translate 1:1 into something workable for this game.
You get 6 frames.
Standing Still
Walk 1
Walk 2
Attack (sword)
Attack (magic/item)
Jubilation (which is also the "falling" pose)
Walking makes the character go through a simple cycle of "standing > walk 1 > standing > walk 2 > standing" repeated forever, so you can make seperate "left foot" and "right foot" frames if your character is asymmetrical. Also, the character wobbles slightly as it walks.
Oh, and as of lunch today, only one walking penis. Countless idiots who don't know what "NO LICENSED CHARACTERS" means, though.

anyway, I decided to nix the Cthulhu idea for now because it was too hard. Instead, I made a sparkly unicorn named Unicron, and he rocks! I'd like to upload him but I don't have a usb flash drive at the moment.
I can assure you he is quite sparkly though. Don't you worry about that.
You will learn to hate that fence in that circuit. So many times I turned and hit it, whereas if it wasn't there I'd have been fine.
I read there was another prize... I think there's another circuit then.
Okay, yeah... to get the best prizes from that circuit, you HAVE to get under 20 seconds on the first one.
Beat the first dungeon and just spent the rest of my time running around and killing stuff. (I'm not lost, honest! Really...)
Also, I managed a 23.6 on the first dash circuit and then gave up. Gonna give it another go later though.
Did you ever actually clear it in under 20? Because if not let me just say that you do not have to do it perfectly. You can make two screw ups, but they have to be after a certain point. I also used the d-pad.
Here's how the first circuit works. First off, you need to get the timing right to start dashing right when it makes the "Go" beep. You need this, you don't want to finish and be .1 off. Second, you need to go from the start all the way around and back up to at least the north side of the fence in one go. You cannot screw that up, you probably won't make it if you do unless you somehow run the course perfectly afterward. See, once you dash for too long you go super fast. Navigating around the trees is just too difficult at that speed. But it takes around a full lap for that to kick in, and the bottom and right side are straight lines. Those are okay at that speed. Try to get as far as you can at that speed, but at least get to the north side of the fence. Then you have to do it again. You get one more screw up, and I say try to do it the same way. Get as far as you can, and at least back to the north side. After this you have to finish and not hit anything. Those are the only two screw-ups you get. If you hit anything else restart. I finished with a time of 19.48 messing up twice at the north side. I had nothing to spare basically.
Here's my biggest tip though. Don't overestimate the south side of the course. It's a lot closer to you than it appears to be, and going fast you'll probably run into it a lot. Try to turn early for it. It's the only part of the map you can't see completely.
Also, I just realized, after looking back at the first temple...
now, I've seen everything.

Squirtle's happy because there's an even better hero here to save Dotnia so he doesn't have to.
Ladies and gentlemen, meet the Flying Ace.
There's an option to turn loading screens back on after you do the install, if you want to collect them all. I noticed it after going through a few screens and noticing I wasn't getting those things, then turned them on.
It feels so backwards.

Shouldn't the top portion be flush with the front and back sides?
