I couldn't beat the game without youtube. And you expect me to get the stars too?
I read one of them you have to sit on a level for two hours while a very slow moving cloud gets into position. My advanced video game ADD will not tolerate those kinds of shenanigans.
I think the jist is that if you don't have to pay for it, its OK to throw in and still be apart of the Challenge (as I recall someone being gifted a game earlier in the thread).
Yea, for me at least, the main focus of the challenge is to stop spending money on games when I have plenty of really fun games already, waiting to be explored. If someone gives me a game, then it doesn't break this goal
Correct. That's why I started the challenge. So I wouldn't spend any more money on games, lol.
Well, I put myself in the challenge because I have a few good games I want to finish. But there's no way in hell I'm not grabbing some games, so I put them in my backlog. Technically, they're already there.
Just remember to sufficently shame yourself when the time comes :P haha

Oh, I'll man up about it. In fact, I'm prematurely manning up about it.
edit - time to be strong. I got an urge to grab RE4Wii. Maybe I'll reward myself with it if I finish a Wii game or two...
double edit - I forgot I had Pixeljunk Monsters and Eden, so I really should add those...
If you play a game and don't like it, does that remove it from your total backlog, or do you count it as "completed" but keep it in the total?
I guess it depends on the game. For a console game I would trade it or Goozex it away which I consider a removal from ye olde backlog. For games that can't be traded I just null them on Backloggery and reduce my total number of games by one. That way they are off my backlog, but I don't get to count them as a victory either.

I have a bad habit of losing interest in a game when I'm nearly done, because I feel there's not much point because there isn't much left to play. At least this means I should be able to bump a number of titles off my list fairly quickly if I focus. On the downside a quick look at my PC list shows a fair few absolutely massive RPGs, so this could take me a long, long time. I have a lot of PS2 titles too, but my PS2 died recently so I don't think they'll be happening anytime soon.

I'm still squarely on the fence about AC: Bloodlines hey. Ubisolft Montreal haven't made many PSP games before, with the only one worth mentioning is PoP, and I'm not sure if you've played it but its pretty lousy.
Finished Fable 2 and boy am I glad it's over. Now on to Persona I guess, if I can find my PSP.
Also there's every chance I'm going to be falling off the wagon tomorrow since I'm pretty sure the new Football Manager is out and I'm not sure if I can resist it, I shall try my best though.

Griptonite are doing most of the legwork, though their only PSP entry so far is the mediocre Wolverine game. Still looks like it has Ubisoft Montreals polish though. Griptonite has an assload of other handheld games under their belt though none of them are noteworthy. All I'm hoping for is a decent AC game on the PSP - nothing magical, I just want a playable PSP AC game.

edit - I think I'm on the last level of World at War, so I'm going to try and knock it off the list tonight, and maybe put some time into Brutal Legend over the weekend.
If you play a game and don't like it, does that remove it from your total backlog, or do you count it as "completed" but keep it in the total?
I have the benefit of playing classic PC games that have stood the test of time, so just about everything is worth finishing. There are a few where I gave up before the end and set it as completed because I didn't want to deal with it anymore. Otherwise I might just remove it so I never had to think about it again. Thinking about cutting a few soon before I even play them.
!Update Staus, 3/75
I am moving Animal Crossing Wii into the done list. I don't have any big goals I want to chase, and I so infrequently play it that I feel I am essentially done with it. Looking at the Nintendo Channel to see the number of hours I spent with it, I certainly got my money's worth I may return to it occasionally to see how weed filled my town is, but I am no longer considering it a backlog item.
In other news, a new kitty means I'll be going a little slower on my backlog ... when I have the choice between playing a game and playing with a cute pussy, the latter will always win :winky:

For me, I use the Beaten badge to mark that I'm done with the game, whether that means I've completed the single-player or I feel I've played it enough that I've justified the cost. Like, I have Wii Sports Resort left unfinished on my backlog, even though there's no real credit roll because I've barely spent any time with it. I do have endless games like Geo Wars and Lumines marked as beaten, though, because I played the crap out of them.
For games you dislike or get frustrated with, I would just either shelve it and move on to something new if you think you might Ty it again later, or just mark it as null if it bugs you.
This challenge is totally helping me focus, by the way. I'm 100-odd puzzles complete in Layton 2 and I'm getting good momentum. Will hopefully work on either Uncharted or Valkyria Chronicles if the latter shows up in the mail from Goozex today since I'm off work today and Monday. Got to squeeze in those PS3 games while I have the system until Christmas!

Same here, Lunker. I just talked myself out of buying Dragon Age (preorder cancelled!) so I can give everything I really need to work on a go. Playing with PA people is great, but it can wait.

I applaud your will.
I had a Will Check vs. Buy on DA:O and rolled a 1.
Of course I have a -20 penalty when rolling against Bioware games, so I was fucked no matter what.

Oddly enough Torchlight is now a really big compulsion. I've never been big on diablo clones, but guns and stufffffffff
Got two of my easy ones out of the way. The ending to World of Goo was surprisingly satisfying. I almost smashed my Wiimote fighting the last boss in De Blob though, so so frustrating, I really suck at platform games

I loved the ending to FFX. In fact I really liked that entire game.
Put another hour or so into Paper Mario. Got the first star dude, heading to dry dry desert next.
I'm not big into FF games (but I like Tactics), but I actually went out of my way to pre-order FFX just because I liked the interface. The wonderful colors just dazzled me in the preview pics.
I just realized that I hadn't put Borderlands on my list. Anywho, Borderlands complete. I'm not done with the game, but for the sake of my backlog I could stop playing it right now and I'd still be satisfied with its "completion."
PM and TTYD are pretty much the same game. As I'm playing through PM I'm all "I'm pretty sure I've played this before".
Not that I mind. I've beaten TTYD and loved it, so PM is just more of the game that I love. Maybe the humor is less quirky but I'm not far enough into it to be able to tell.
Just finished up Mass Effect. I still plan to play through it again before ME2, but for my "main story completed" goal, it's done. With only 3 days until Dragon Age comes out, and that being the next game I really focus on hard, I think I'm going to toss in a horror game in honor of the holiday. What do you guys think? Silent Hill: Homecoming, Fatal Frame 3, or Condemned 2? Note: I have not beaten FF 1, have beaten 2, not beaten 3. I do own all 3, so I guess I could play FF 1 instead of 3. I also have not beaten any Silent Hills *gasp*, and have not beaten the first Condemned. So basically, any way you look at it, order's not really a factor here.
EDIT: Also, Eternal Darkness is an option I am leaning heavily toward.
I would recommend Condemned 2 first (just fo rone particular segment in a cabin...) followed by Fatal Frame 3 (I think 2 was the best in the series though) and then I'd skip Silent Hill: Homecoming altogether and play Silent Hill 2 instead.

Well, for backlog purposes, I don't want to skip Homecoming altogether, as it is a part of my backlog, and I don't necessarily hate it. I do have SH2, but get so annoyed with how it seems to control on the 360 emulation, plus missing textures, etc. I agree that FF2 is probably the best in the series, which is why I decided to beat it first. I don't like how FF1 randomizes when ghosts appear, including when you're opening a door. And I don't like how FF3 plays a lot like SH4, with the swapping between worlds. At least SH4 took you to different places, where as FF3 makes you start from the same spot every night, running through all the stuff you played the previous night, until you get to the new content. It really breaks up the game a lot.

I just finished the last of my purchase for the holiday season, and now I intend to play through the entirety of my backlog before getting a new game. Good lord, where to start.
Seriously though, any suggestions on where to start off?
Edit:
Apparently, there was a lot less left of Overlord than I thought. The plot twist at the end was a touch cliched though.

Here's how I prioritize:
Start with the shortest games.
Among the shortest games, choose the most linear and direct ones.
Among the short, linear games, start with the easiest ones.
Then work your way up. This will help you cross things off your list faster and make it feel like you're accomplishing your backlog goal.
Now, the only caveat is you have to watch for burn-out of genre. If you find you prioritize and have yourself playing 4 shooters in a row, you might want to break this priority list by subbing in a platformer or something instead, so you don't get burned out just playing 1 type of game. That way it keeps things fresh and keeps you going.
