I suspect they want Icecrown to be out for like, six months+, so they can have as many people see the new content as possible.
Sunwell Plateau Syndrome was beyond idiotic and I highly doubt they want to do that again. Then again, this is the company that has such a grip on the market that it can tell bored players to quit when there's a cry for content after a near half-year dry spell.
But I like to think Evil Blizzard died some time during 3.1. The content is coming in higher quantities with similar quality and at a higher rate.

They also don't NEED Icecrown to be out for 6+ months for as many people to see it as possible. The easy mode/hard mode split plus triumph badges on heroics and ulduar on down will basically do this as it is. Toss in some Ulduar style rolling nerfs and you're probably good to go.
Supposedly at least some of the work involved in Cataclysm was already ongoing before Wrath, so even though the expansion probably has the biggest content change of the three so far, it'll probably have the shorest development cycle.
Edit: Evil Blizzard's still around, too. Only evil Blizzard would create encounters like yogg 0 and heroic anub, or progression limiters like tribute limits and the Algalon hour. They just hide evil Blizzard behind happy casuals win again Blizzard. Even though I've been suffering at the hands of evil Blizzard since Molten Core, I still think the new way is more palatable overall.
I'd really like to see new character models. They have good reason to be stingy with remodels, but these are damn player characters and it's gonna to be harder to ignore the five year gap between an Orc and a Goblin.

And i think its about time they introduced some minor body size options. You see it all the time now, it really shouldnt affect the gear much at all.
Just curious, has anyone done Loremaster? Im working on it as Horde and Kalimdor is kicking my butt. I was told it would be hard, but I thought people meant the last 10 or so quests. I have 150 to find! I went through every quest hub I could think of and Ive done all the ones I can find(minus dungeons, I wanna gather them all and just do one run each). Anyone have any suggestions or places I may have missed, or ideas? Right now my plan is to just open up Wowhead and literally check off every quest as I know they are done.

I honestly didn't have much trouble with Loremaster. Just the time sink nature of it. Howling Fjord was the most annoying part of it since I've never done the place before.
Yeah, it's not impossible or anything, just tedious. It helps if you're aware going in that Kalimdor will be 100x slower than Northrend, and you only have about 15 quests worth of leeway so you really can't afford to miss any.
We very well could see 3.3 before November ends, which would mean Cataclysm beta after the holidays. Damn if things are not moving FAST.
I really, really hope not. I want to sit on ToC for awhile longer, we still have a large bug to kill, and I really don't want to deal with a new instance in the middle of the fucking holidays. Between holiday travel, family visiting, and the college semester ending, this is a TERRIBLE TIME for a new instance. ;__;
Godammit female orcs have one normal face, and it's one where the character looks dumbfounded.
There's also the "pretty" face, the one with blue eyes and thick black eyelashes, which I always use. Then the one I call the "innocent" face which is probably your dumbfounded one, with blue eyes but more of a wide-eyed look and no pretty eyelashes.

My friend calls those the "Virgin" faces. Came from a discussion about how orc copulation probably involves a lot of throwing one of the participants into a wall repeatedly as "warm up" like females of the species from the Predator series, so a pretty significant amount of rage would have to be involved. This evolved further into a discussion about female Predators and whether or not we'd "hit it" but that's for another time and place
We both concluded that a female predator would utterly destroy us

Agreed: Since they gave the magthar orcs in outland their own, more detailed, models I'd say it's about fecking time the old racial models got updated - NPC's are looking better than the players!
So anyone know what that tiny ass patch that required me to do some real random bullshit to download is supposed to be for?
Apparently it was a "tools" patch to update stuff like the repair tool, the uninstaller, and all that. If you read the way they phrase it it's almost the definition of irony given the problems people were having.

Seconding that "I didn't really have a problem".
Quest hubs you might have missed:
If your character is old, then you will have lots of quests in the redone Dustwallow Marsh.
Silithus has some quests where you collect stuff from the Twilight and summon bosses that you couldn't solo at 60.
They added Blood Elf quest giver NPCs in several locations, Freewind Post and Sunrock Retreat come to mind.
Have you done the starting zones of Tauren/Orcs?
In longer quest chains some parts count for Kalimdor, even if they are in the Eastern Kingdoms or in instances. I think almost all of the Onyxia key chain counts for Kalimdor. The whole Zul'Farrak->Sunken Temple thing, too.
Questgivers that are easy to miss: Between Barrens and Stonetalon are 2 NPCs. In Southern Barrens patrols a Tauren. Barrens has several quest drops from named beasts and from the Alliance patrol. The goblin at the dock in Feralas. Tanaris has a drop quest (map) from the Pirates and the turtle escort. The chicken escorts in Feralas and Tanaris. Desolace has an Argent Dawn guy in the north at the tower.
He asked if there were any HUGE new changes. So uh, Death Knights are here, Inscription is here, raids have hard modes now. There are others but those are the generally big ones.
Well not necesarily huge. I read something about glyphs. Also how much mileage can I get out of a new character without buying WotLK?

If you know what you're doing, you can get to 70 in a few days of solid play, but if you haven't played in a while there's a lot of new levelling content (redesigned quests, lot more fun than it used to be) and if you didn't level to 70 when TBC first came out all of that will be new to you. a death knight might not be a bad choice if you have a level 60.

honestly i'd say the best thing to do is just roll either a new character, or if your account is still valid, maybe a death knight if they interest you, and just jump right in. definitely do the death knight starting area as its quick (2-3 hours long) and is a good way to decide if you like the class

Well, since he's not planning on buying WotLK he wouldn't be able to roll a Death Knight.
Without WotLK, you can get to level 70 and then you're stuck because no one else is at level 70.

Also in stonetalon is a small troll camp that has a few quests. The last "kill the harpy" quest in the barrens chains there iirc.

Seems like 3.3 is almost ready to go. The PTR's latest build was pretty sparse. I think balance changes are pretty much set and all that is left is more ICC testing and even that will demand maybe another 2-4 weeks depending on how much they test hard modes. This will likely be like Yogg and we won't see Arthas available for testing, which speeds things up.
We very well could see 3.3 before November ends, which would mean Cataclysm beta after the holidays. Damn if things are not moving FAST.
I'd be surprised if we don't see 3.3 before December. With the increased speed with which things are being tested in Icecrown, I think we could reasonably expect to see it in two weeks, maybe three tops. It's already been on the PTR for quite a while and the new builds are becoming smaller, which is usually an indicator that things are nearly ready to go. I think we'll see a Cat beta announcement before Christmas (it's been in FnF Alpha for a few months now, from what I've read), which would mean we'd probably see it hit stores in April, May at the latest.
I'd be surprised if they aren't removing the drakes from the Ulduar achievements with 3.3 coming out so I'd assume we'll see that announcement when they are a month from releasing 3.3. I could be wrong though or they could just dick everyone over and not make that announcement.
I think they are going to remove all the drakes from the achievements come 4.0 sigh
No matter much I beg I cannot get some of those heroic ones done because people want the bronze drake or a number of other reasons for the others ones

I wouldn't be surprised if they just didn't make that announcement. I think if they were going to do that they'd have done it when they released 3.2 and made all instances drop Conquest or higher badges.

Yeah honestly I wouldn't either, but they specifically said they would so it would be shitty to not do it.
I have a few of the achievements left at this point but mostly because I don't care. I really only cared about the Rusted Proto-drake because it made my swift flight form 310% speed too.
edit: And yeah Nobody that was a kick in the balls. Honestly, though, grab a mage, shaman and something else and we can get it done for you one of these days.

Also, do a wowhead search filter for quests stared by drops, and check each zone for those. Overall those are the easiest quests to miss.

I just saw someone in a random guild claim to have cleared ToGC25 in trade chat.
I checked, and armory said they hadn't even cleared normal ToC25.
