Do you have any playlists where you have low experience in? I found out yesterday I had like, 5xp in Rumble Pit, so I just played won a game last night, then today I signed on and won again, and that was all it took.

Yep, sounds like my siblings as well. My brother and his friend teamed up against me in Goldeneye; never played anything else but Facility, and both of them hid in the stupid bathroom and said I sucked at it since I could never infiltrate their base. And my sister will lord it over me for days if she beats me even once out of every ten games of whatever we play (keep in mind, she's twenty), even if it's something like Mario Party or Kart where skill takes a backseat to luck or Smash Bros when she demands she have two level 9 AI teammates and spends the whole round running away from me.
But yeah, we should get some last-minute Halo stuff going before Modern Warfare 2 rules our lives.
I'm trying to get Lightswitch and I was under the impression that playlist ranks were separate from your global rank. I.E. I could get Lieutenant in Grifball without having the 10 skill necessary to get Lieutenant for my global rank.
Is that incorrect? Do I need the skill to get officer ranks in any playlist?
Playlist ranks are solely based on experience, but the experience needed to get any specific playlist rank is far higher than you'd expect compared to the global ranks.

I suppose this is the place still to arrange Firefight outings.
I'm looking to set up a run this evening around 6pm EST for the Endure achievement. A friend of mine who doesn't post around here is already on board so if there are still two other people out there who haven't gotten this achievement yet let me know.

So anyway if he decides to challenge me again which he most likely will, do you guys have any tips for beating a guy with 2 years experience in the game? Mind you I'm not new to FPS games, I was doing the Basic Training last night for online and kicking the asses of people the same level and just as new to the game as I. Hell even if I have to play cheep and dirty which I normally wouldn't do I just want to even the playing field because his dumb ass isn't going to comprehend 2 years experience + 2 days experience =/= a fair fight and he's still going to brag like he took down King Kong.

The best thing you can do is familiarize yourself with the level layouts/weapon spawns.
Knowing where the power weapons are will always help.
Also, protect your overshield spawn. If it spawns don't take it right away. Wait for him to try closing the gap. Then grab it.
When your overshield first starts charging, you are invulnerable to pretty much everything except falling to death and assassinations.
This lets you get by with getting stuck, or whatever.
Edit: if you're using on disc maps, this is an advantage, because matchmaking doesn't use them at all.
Using the overshield spawn as a trap might be a bad idea for a new player given if the enemy touch it they get invincibility temporarily + overshield which at that level will decide any fight.

Ok what are the power weapons? Also what do you mean about on disk maps?
A direct hit from a grav hammer will kill a Spartan easily. My main issue with it was more that the soldier in the canteen had heard that a Spartan died. Spartans are only ever listed as MIA and not KIA, and it's not like the ODSTs would have let anyone know.

Oh yeah, that does seem like a bit of a slip. Oh well, I don't think it really ruined the overall plot. I really liked it, I'm pumped to see the other ones. It'll make a nice blu-ray purchase when it comes out next year.

I realize it's not as cool by now but I'm still happy. :P
first off congrats man!
and secondly..
the babysitter was meh..wasn't bad wasn't great, my biggest problem was the long flowing hair, like a spartan would have had that much hair loose, a braid at least would have been had if not a close crop....

Too bad they said that these are all canonical mini stories cause they could have easily just brushed it off as non-canon fan video. Oh well no big deal though.

I assume that the average marine is smart enough to understand that Spartans can die, and the MIA/KIA issue is just a morale thing, so that didn't bother me. As for knowing about the Spartan in the first place, the ODSTs in the mess hall didn't even try to keep that quiet, and there would likely be rumor. It's not a satisfactory answer, but it works well enough to assuage those issues.
Hey guys, if anybody wants to help my brother and I get some Firefight achievements and Vidmaster challenges, please let me know. Thanks!

Man... I need all the FF and Vidmasters and I'm done with ODST. And wow, I'd been purchasing the maps for Halo, but I hadn't played any of them till last night. Got 3 achievments for that.
Don't know if I'll ever shoot for Recon though. I like my ODST helmet.

If you need the Fire Fight Vidmaster, a couple friends and I are hoping to knock those out today around 3pm if you're up for it. Just drop me a message and we can work out the details, not that there are many to work out.

I'd say go with which one people are most comfortable with.
When we tried it on Lost Platoon a few nights ago we kept failing terribly very fast. Part of it was lag and disconnects but we just weren't "getting it". When we switched to Alpha Site it was much more smooth and only through bad luck we lost on the 5 set of the 3rd wave of round 4
Then the next night when I joined some folks to try it again I suggested Alpha Site because of the previous nights issues and I was veto'ed and we did Lost Platoon. I braced myself for a couple hours of failures but we got it first try, and throughout most of the game we never went below 10 lives remaining. We were up to 20+ at several points and by the end of Endure we were back up to 21 after the bonus round when round 5 began but we quit. We probably could have gone on pretty much forever.
tl;dr: both maps work well, it just depends on the comfort level of the players with either close quarters combat or wide open vehicular slaughter.
So Im trying to get my Good Samaritan achievement in the same run as my Legendary one and was wondering what counts as "killing" the Engineer.
I just ran into the first one, and managed to kill off all the brutes and everything, never shooting the Engineer. However, once the battle ended I dont see it anywhere. Does that mean that I killed it somehow? I know in the dialogue the Brutes say it will explode if a human gets too close. Did I kill it?

as long as you don't kill it directly your good. the AI's killed quite a few but i still got the achievement. also, once you kill all the enemies in the area it self destructs, not sure if it counts against you or not.
Eh, I wouldn't risk it. I know I didn't kill it personally on my first tme through and I still had one killed. Just creep round/barrel through on a mongoose.

Actually I'm not sure it's such an issue. Spartans are only listed as MIA or WIA in official records so that the public continues to believe that Spartans cannot be killed. I'd go even further to say that the existence of Spartans is even up for debate by those not involved in the Spartan program or its execution. If I recall in the Hell Jumper comics there's actually an argument between some ODSTs as to whether Spartans are real or even as capable as they're rumored to be.
Also I think it would be pretty obvious that there was a Spartan on the UNSC ship and then afterwards there wasn't one. So the rumor mill might be to blame for a marine saying that he "heard" a Spartan died.
