My Bank was just shut down by FDIC

Wow, this is surreal, I just heard on the news that the FDIC just shut down my bank of 10 years. The online baking website is still going with the new bank's name generically pasted all over the old bank's name. It's has a bunch of "It's cool, We're like the FDIC and we got your back bro" pop ups. Letting us know that our checks will still be accepted, as with debit cards and those with debts, well, those get transferred over too.

I was thinking of joining a credit union anyway. I'm not a fan of the new bank (That and the local branch is in another city) and I've been told that credit unions are the way to go.

Thoughts?

    My parents use a credit union so I do too. They handled my identity theft case this summer really quickly.
