Sorry for the confusion, guys. There was a slight mix-up with the release dates. North America will be releasing in an hour or so while Europe, Australia, etc. will be releasing 12:01am GMT on the 30th.
The count-down you see on the page now should be accurate.

What a pile of Bullshit!
Yeah how dare they have a slight mixup and then immediately fix it and apologize!
I fundamentally don't understand different release dates for the digital fucking game. Its the internet dudes, its not like it takes data 3 days to cross the pacific.
From the Valve forums:

The preorder has been up on steam for what, a month? And they only now 'fix' it? Facepalming so hard.

I'm guessing it has to do with coinciding with retail sales of the PC version.

Folks are pissed because the unlock showed as today for them, but then Valve realized they don't believe in magical non-countries and inexplicably delayed the unlock for a week for some people. Like just now delayed it for a week. I'd be pretty pissed too.

Me thinks no one from the company took the time to go check Steam to make sure it was showing the right date for all areas. They were watching the NA launch and forgot to double check the international ones.
Just to be absolutely certain I wasn't talking out of my ass earlier, I tested the Class mod bonus to unbought skills.
This is what I did:
The easiest ones to test are the Chain skills because you get a on-screen indicator of their use.
1) I equipped a Class mod that applied +3 to Revenge, a skill on the second tier of the Blaster tree.
2) I removed all the skills from my Brick and purchased 5 points of Endowed to activate the second tier of Blaster.
3) I walked outside Fyrestone and killed several bandits watching for the symbol to pop up, it did not. (I also had my friend watch for it, in case I missed it.)
4) I added a point to the Revenge skill and killed another bandit. The skill symbol popped up.
Therefore, it really appears to me that the Class mod did not influence my Revenge skill before I actually added a point to it.
If anyone can pick apart what I missed or did wrong, or cares to replicate the test to confirm for themselves feel free to help out the discussion. This isn't an argument, it's an attempt to figure this out for to make sweet correct builds.

I'm honestly not sure how to play this game. I want to go home and go crazy, but all my friends are on different schedules, makes it harder to play together. And zomg I hate having someone drag me around to catch up with them.

Got the new TV but boarderlands is sold out all over...gay
It's sold out all over the place it seems. I managed to get the second last copy in my city apperently, minus driving out to the middle of fuck nowhere to get it or the next town over.
One of my friends asked me "So is Borderlands pretty good?" on the release day. Well, yea. So he went and tried to pick up a copy, in my old hometown which has:
2 Walmarts
1 Best Buy
1 Futureshop
4 Gamestops (might be five now)
1 Microplay or whatever the fuck they're called now
3 Huge malls
Yup, he still doesn't have the game.
Forza 3 is out tommorow so he's going to try and get Borderlands then along with F3.
Wasn't someone saying earlier that even their Amazon order got delayed because of shortages?
Really do remember someone saying that, but yet again this is the internet so those supposed delays/shortages could of been fixed by now, a hell of a lot quicker then physically shipping copies to a B&M location.
This is something that usually get someone fired. This directly effects they're international PR and sales.
Think they've gone beyond that, if you've had a look at the 2k and gearbox forums over the last few days
I don't think I want to subject myself to those forums. Summary?
In all seriousness, unless this game is liquid sex-platinum, I will seriously question any purchase from 2K in the future. I'm expecting a good game, but I don't really care for these kinds of business tactics.
Sure you understand they don't want to sell out all their internet copies at once. Staggering the release will allow them to build up more internet copies for the non-NA locations.

Yeah, I tired a few stores here in Calgary for a friend so he could join in. He's been watching his brother play online withme and he's going fucking nuts wanting this game. Sold out everywhere.
I think they underestimated the word of mouth on this game as the only places I've seen anything about it is online (as opposed to TV or what have you)

Would have been nice if they hadn't waited until 50 minutes prior to the NA unlock to make the change.

I couldn't wait, so I got it for 360.
Seeing as my 360 is on it's last leg, it won't be long before I get it for PC as well. Hell, that's what I did with SFIV.

It's only one 85 minute class. I think I might be able to start an hour and a half later. Maybe...

No, don't throw it off the bridge just hold it for a second.
I need a moment to catch up.
Staggered release dates on the intertubes?
I must have misunderstood.
Let me go back and read the last couple pages again.

I am in awe.
Which bright spark thought that was a good idea?
Then I remembered, Valve Time, and thought better of it.
I mean it's common sense.
