hunters are fucking completely broken in duels. i've yet to meet anyone that i can't just hit bumper and watch them die
ive had this exact experience with my berzerker in duels. nothing can stand before the FISTS. i would be willing to believe that i havent dueled anyone who actually knew how to duel well though.
i havent really been messing around with many elemental weapons. it just pains me to see their damage stat so much lower than what im rocking already. i really want a good explosive shotgun though.
It's vertical for HD, I think horizontal for SD (I have an HD TV so I'm not 100% sure).
Can anyone confirm this %100?
If the split is horizontal, is it tolerable?
The split is indeed horizontal on an SDTV, and it plays just fine. It takes a bit of adjusting to get used to the menus, though, as they don't really change the size of the menus, just allow you to scroll around using the right stick.
e: Also, anyone who still thinks bloodwing isn't broken should see the arena matches I ran with a few friends last night. I won every match without firing a single bullet.
Okay, well we'll see how this horizontal split nonsense works out. I didn't mind it in UT3.
Now not to ruin the thread with newbie pre-purchase questions, but it appears as if the game is over rather quickly. As in you'll be max level and finished the campaign within the first week of purchase. Can I get some thoughts on this? Is there motivation to keep playing after you're maxed or is replayability a large factor?

I'm looking for a purple or higher machine pistol. I have a fantastic green and blue, but I wouldn't mind some elemental damage on them. I've gotten two yellow repeater pistols but both have been lower level and kind of meh tastic. Just got to keep plugging dudes and taking their shit.

The thing is, bloodwing will totally kill any character, regardless of ability use. It can kill lillith during her phasewalk.
Maybe I haven't spent enough time with the other characters (I have one of each right now), but bloodwing is just ridiculous if you focus on it. Attacking 9 times for 2000+ damage each, with a x4 corrosive and a one second cooldown, come on. Sure, you can punch that badmutha to death using your ability, but I've already killed 5 of his friends, stunned and corroded the rest, set the bad mutha on fire, and bloodwing is coming back to hit him one more time. And he'll do it all over again a second from now.
Don't get me wrong, I love all of the characters, but that just seems ridiculous(for an ability, anyway). Now, if you want to talk about stacking percentages, or regenerating rockets, etc, that's an entirely different discussion.

I was a little miffed by the fact that my incendiary sniper only did about half the damage of a regular one, same level.
Then I watched just how many orange-red numbers dinged up over someone after a fire got lit on their face and decided it wasn't so bad after all.

I don't know what happened but the Rakk Hive was the most pathetic boss ever. He looked kinda cool with his giant vaginaface or whatever, but he didnt even attack us. He just kinda wandered around and a couple rakks wandered around. None of us even lost our shield in the fight. So far I think Skagzilla has been the best boss.
I liked Mothrakk for the sheer "what the fuck" as it started flying by and then promptly roasted my ass.
In line with these rust commons east spoiler.
Fucking rakkishu! His flame thrower breath was killing me so bad and I just couldn't get him down for a bit.
?
How is it a spoiler, Rakkatoa I think his name was.
I just didn't expect him. I was doing the

and BAM!, I am getting pummeled by fire from above. A great fight. And god, so much loot spread over, probably an acre!

Yeah its from the middle of nowhere job board. Trust me you'll know which one when you get there mm.
I have a bad habit of overleveling and not doing quests. But I'm 27 now so I'll prolly do that one tonight. Test out my new revolver :P
I over level everything, do every quest, because honestly I like helping the fucked up citizens of pandora. One quest I know people miss is that the gun dealer offers a quest in new haven. Claptrap never tells you he has one so you just have to decide to talk to him on a whim.
And I just spoilered that boss because someone spoiled mothraaka, its not like its a story spoiler.

Just from the stock abilities you can get it down to something like 13 seconds + 4 seconds off for each sniper hit. So let it out, ding three people (not kills, just a hit with the rifle) and you're up again.
That's without class mods.

I get there using a ranger mod. +3 to bird of prey (more attacks) and +4 to the cooldown ability (predator, I think?). I'm wondering what would happen if I got in with a lillith with a cooldown reducing mod.
I haven't even touched the sniper side this time around, except to put one point in focus so the mod would max that out.
And clearly the best boss in the game is slither it was so epic, a god.
Fuck yes, Slither was awesome. Best boss ever.
I actually some how sequence broke the game and killed Slither. Didn't drop the toll bridges before that so I got stuck on the other side of East Rust Commons.
Some people are claiming that if you wait at the online lobby for a few minutes, it will unfreeze. Can anyone collaborate this?
I never could get it to work. Just friended a bunch of PA people on lamespy instead (just look in the steam group lobby) and hopped into a private game with them. Which was great. It started with just me and senshi at around L7ish. By the time we hit ~10 we had sonelan jump in at level one. We kitted him out with some shitty random white drops and he proceeded to get completely owned in the game for about an hour or so until he almost caught up...
At which point he went from "hay guyz i got hit again. please revive me" to punching things and them exploding.

I did not read that much about Lilith and was not aware of her time powers. I have to rethink who I want to play with now.
Her phase walk is a great double aoe love tap, on top of being a good way to flank your enemies, run away from them, or just get somewhere faster. Add to that her other abilities and she's one fun character.

I'm focusing on Gunslinger but I keep a sniper rifle around. I have a really nice one that causes explosive damage and it enables me to hide behind terrain and take vehicles down in 3 or 4 shots.
Also, I maxed out whatever skill it is that adds massive damage to melee attacks and I can kill brutes in one hit now. Interesting side fact: if you have a certain weapon type equipped and you kill an enemy with melee attacks, the proficiency credit for the kill is not lost; it goes towards the weapon you have equipped. I discovered this after I downed Skagzilla with a melee attack and a sniper rifle equipped and gained three levels of sniper proficiency at once.

The last round is pretty hard, the level suggestion is just bullshit. It helps a lot to bring a friend in, even if it makes the mobs slightly tougher, since you have someone to watch your back and revive you if the need arises.
That's what I did, anyway, after losing some hundreds of thousands of dollars dying.

That's only if you don't take any of the final skills, I think.
Basically it's a tradeoff. You can have a pretty much constant bloodwing by taking Predator and Carrion Call and sniping the fuck out of enemies. But your bloodwing will only attack one target at a time.
Or you can have a SLIGHTLY less frequent Bloodwing who attacks 6 targets at a time by dropping Predator and just pumping up Carrion Call and Bird of Prey. Then get a class mod that bumps Carrion Call above max, and you can essentially have the cooldown reduced by up to 6 seconds every single time you shoot anyone with a sniper rifle. And the cooldown is only 28 seconds to begin with. So send out the Bloodwing, he runs around critting 6 enemies for thousands of damage, dazing them 100% of the time if they're equal level, and dealing fire/shock/whatever you want depending on your artifact. Then while he's doing that just take out your snipe and go boom, boom, boom, boom, and you have another bloodwing ready to go.
I find myself swapping weapons sometimes for the fun of it entirely. Not just to level up proficienies but its just a different aspect to the game.
Like my siren has an smg, shotty, revolver, and combat rifle on hotkey. I swap them as I see fit.
One thing I recommend for any hombre who isn't a soldier, keep one gun that has ammo regen, any type really sometimes you need to replenish the stores.

I love running through Krom's canyon. Most enemies you can kill from a distance and the turret itself isn't really a hazard as there's so much cover. That said, I usually just run straight into the mix and start deploying the turret every time I can.
