    1 second cooldown? thats nuts.

Just from the stock abilities you can get it down to something like 13 seconds + 4 seconds off for each sniper hit. So let it out, ding three people (not kills, just a hit with the rifle) and you're up again.

    That's without class mods.
That's only if you don't take any of the final skills, I think.

Basically it's a tradeoff. You can have a pretty much constant bloodwing by taking Predator and Carrion Call and sniping the fuck out of enemies. But your bloodwing will only attack one target at a time.

Or you can have a SLIGHTLY less frequent Bloodwing who attacks 6 targets at a time by dropping Predator and just pumping up Carrion Call and Bird of Prey. Then get a class mod that bumps Carrion Call above max, and you can essentially have the cooldown reduced by up to 6 seconds every single time you shoot anyone with a sniper rifle. And the cooldown is only 28 seconds to begin with. So send out the Bloodwing, he runs around critting 6 enemies for thousands of damage, dazing them 100% of the time if they're equal level, and dealing fire/shock/whatever you want depending on your artifact. Then while he's doing that just take our your snipe and go boom, boom, boom, boom, and you have another bloodwing ready to go.

    It's fucking sick.

Damn. I wish I could do this with Roland. I've maxxed out the deploy skill and it says the cooldown is supposed to be 100%. Confusion all round!

There is no exp scaling, a level one getting level 30 mob kills would be like 4 levels a mob death at first.

Yes. It's done so the lower level player can level up faster to join his friend. Remember that you're also up against much harder enemies so there has to be a payoff.

    It works pretty well

A friend joined our level 15ish game, a massive chain aggro firefight ensued and I think he was level 8-9 by the end of it, took maybe 15 minutes

No, they don't stack. If you go to the skills screen, the artifact appears next to the actual skill right at the top. It's on the left hand side. Click on that and you get a list of all the artifacts, as well as their level.

On the talents page, select the artifact icon and it'll bring up a list of the artifacts you've equipped, and you can select any one of those at any time.

    with artifacts:

there are various levels of them. I've seen 1 through 5 on my lvl 50 soldier. they might go higher. there should be an artifact of each tier for each type. they drop as loot off of mobs in the world, and i think there are specific quests you can do to get others.

on your skill select screen, you can click on the diamond icon to the left of your special, and access the different ones you have available. you can only have one at a time. your special action cooldown icon should ? change to reflect the type of upgrade you have equipped.

you have to "equip" the upgrade in your inventory like backpack slots. if you already have an upgrade, you will be told you can't use the item when you try to click it in your inventory. equipping an improved one will change the level of the upgrade in your selection list.

The cooldown is 100 apples and it removes one apple per second. +100% reduction = two apples per second, cutting the cooldown in half.

if the artifact has a different name, the name of your class will also change above the XP bar. For instance, I had a "support soldier" artifact, and above my xp bar I was a lvl 20 support soldier. Changed that out for a tactician artifact and above my xp bar I became a lvl 20 tactician.

Old Haven is the most fun area I've ever played in a game. Ever.

Intense urban close-range combat against enemies that are actually pretty smart. Also when you kill them with acid their horrifying screams are the ultimate in "fuck you, guy" moments. And then you'll have nightmares about the sound of it.

Plus, there are no bullshit get-in-your-face enemies (skags and spiderants), no pop-out-of-nowhere enemies (scythids and spiderants) and no only-takes-damage-from-crits enemies (worms and fucking spiderants seriously fuck those things). You're got a lot more tactical options against Lance enemies, but it doesn't mean they're easy.

I think when I finally hit level 50 all I'm going to do is loot runs in Old Haven.

no those are class mods, those are different. they give you bonuses to skills and other various buffs.

artifacts give your class skill (bird attack, turret etc) different elemental properties.

For folks wondering about gaining experience from higher and lower level enemies, the amount of XP you get is based on your level vs enemy level. Killing skag pups got me up a couple levels, but then a little while later they only counted as 2 XP. Then 1. Then none. On the other hand, fighting enemies at a higher level than you gains you more XP than if they were your same level.

You also level faster with 4 people; the enemies are made tougher with each added player to both keep the challenge up and reward you for playing coop. This also increases the chances of encountering enemies which will butt-rape the team, but hey, nut up or shut up.
