Let's face it, we aren't going to stop reading newspapers and dishing about them any time soon.
(Though some of us are too manly to call it "dishing.")
I care about cost savings, mainly -- it's no good insuring more people if you can't sustain it over the next decades -- so this seems like it would weaken the main argument for a public option. But it does put in place the groundwork, so you can argue it's better than nothing.

Still far too weak, but ideally it's pointing real reform in the right direction. I'm guessing that part of the reason to allow an opt-out (and put the public option in the hands of the state) is to counter the states that were going to try and block federal involvement. (it's in the constitution or something)

I'd be very interested to see a health study showing the effects of not-watching tv news programs, or reading political blogs, etc does to a person's overall health. Probably not much?
edit: basically what would happen if we did stop reading newspapers and stopped dishing about them?

I get up in the morning and I just can't function until I internet for like 10 minutes. That's also about the length of time it takes me to get moisture to return to my face.

man I get up in the morning and being late for work has already shot adrenaline throughout my body, what can caffeine offer me that a line of coke at 7AM can't?
Just look at it. Read it. It is from Fox News' own webpage so you can't shout anything about editing or spin or bias.
That is just straight up crazy.

I am ok with raising a generation of would-be killers if it means someone is going to do something about "retiring" the generation of self-entitled brats that refuse to let us clean up their mess.

and every 10 minutes you get a cup of something almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea
now that's just ridiculous
I hope Captain Picard phasers you in the nuts.
Also, I don't know anything about tea. I drink coffee, because I'm a man.

Earl Grey is a bit "meh".

I don't drink either because I am not powered by caffeine

I am at the point where I want to start rear ending people with Glenn Beck 9/12 Project bumper stickers.... and there are a ton of them around here.
I might have to get that truck with the grill guard after all.

i can't believe i read the whole thing
I don't see the problem. All young people are drugged-up potheads who can't put more than three syllables together, right?
A grill guard is no good, you need a replacement bumper, like from Ranch Hand. Get a big fuckin' replacement bumper and you can run over trees.

Seriously, fuck Glenn Beck in his smug face. I'm now for government health care simply because he's against it. I need no more facts. Don't care.
