Seriously though, I think I like it, unless you raid with dicks.. in which case, find a different raid.
It would be nice those nights where absolutely nothing you can use drops, at least you can still walk away with something to help pay the repair bill / flask cost / food cost.

I'd heard of it before but never really payed much attention until today. The more I read, the more I wish someone did this on my server.
Heck, on weekends I sometimes hop into random PuGs; It's a couple hundred gold and I can get badges for junk like off-spec Pally gear, and I just like raiding. Now if I was getting badges *and* a bunch of gold, hell yes sign me up. I'm already dragging like 5 idiots through every VoA, pay up.
And then yeah - I'd love to grab some gear for my Shaman without harassing my friends to run stuff. Although I can't wait for the random heroics option in 3.3 for gearing alts tbh. Finding group for heroic daily takes about 15 seconds. Chain heroics? Not so easy. But yeah, getting some quick Naxx gear on my Shaman + probably making some quick gold because someone just has to have that trinket, win/win.
I just can't see anyone losing from the situation. Even if you didn't get that one item you really wanted, you're still walking away with a bigger bankroll to put toward next week.
GDKP only really works with ToC because of how short, easy, and trashless it is. I can't see it working with Ulduar or Icecrown because of trash and more complicated encounters.

I doubt there are many regular ulduar runs that would not succeed with 15~ geared and experienced folks. I remember people downying up each boss and still coming out ahead in the end.
First person that tries to charge me for items from Naxx gets my digital boot up their ass.
Well no one is advocating springing the GDKP system on the raid mid-run. That is extortion and as bad as ninja looting.
Remember Dragon Spine Trophy? that thing was ninja looted more than domo's chest.
As a former progression raider, "what is the loot system" is always one of the first things I asked upon joining a random raid (note, not always a PuG; for a while I had so many well geared alts I began helping other guilds with progression or just rounding out a raid with an alt, mostly MC, BWL, ZG and Karazhan).
I was only referring to someone that tried to implement such a system other than /roll on content that produces gear that is pretty much outstripped by what you can earn in 5 man heroics with a little tenacity.
This would, however, strike me as a reasonable system for a quality current tier PuG'ing group.
And I my Dragon Spine Trophy. Paid fairly heavily to get it, and it served me well for ages.
And yeah, Ishtaar's "let's just go wreck shit while the other crew is doing their thing" runs sound tempting as hell.

naxx too.
it is touch and go, since naxx gear is a bit outdated, ony sarth maly are too short, ulduar is actually pretty difficult (and long), and ToC is still being farmed by most guilds, depending on your server.
Now that I think of it, You could probably extend the raid lockout for an ulduar GDKP run.
I for one would pay gold just to get into an ulduar already cleared up to the keepers.
Epic: Was in Uld10 Hard on the guild saved Yogg run cleared up to General. We were having problems with ranged, including me, getting hit with the damn Crashes. Got it fixed and had a good run going when I got taken out by a person with the leech run the wrong way. Bah!
This was during the final burn down and the General was at 1% and we started wiping and just hovering at 1%. The bosses life widdled down with what dps was up but it was wipe mode with everyone dying one by one. The final person left up was a Tree druid and the boss had 155 health left. The druid said in vent "Im gonna try to melee him." Tree druid hit boss for 255 and gets punted and dies but SO DOES THE BOSS. Was epic.

wow why didnt he just moonfire
i mean meleeing is way more badass but more risky too...
Ok, that replaced my prot warrior arena partner in BC getting the killing blow with a crit in the back from the Shuriken you get from that Netherstorm quest as the most ridiculously awesome wimp kill ever.
My wife released last week when we did FL+4 for the first time. She was so angry that she didn't get the achievement. She wasn't very happy when I said "That will teach you to be a tard and release before it's a sure wipe." Haha. It's a good thing FL+4 is easy mode these days and we just did it again this week or I might be in the doghouse.

Yeah, at this point in the game, it's hard to have much pity for people who miss out on things by releasing. Releasing early serves no purpose. By sitting in the instance, at your corpse, and watching a fight, you have the potential to learn something, at least.
Yeah, we had wiped several times learning FL+4 leading up to the kill, and I was rushing everybody after each wipe to hurry up and get back in so we could get rolling for the next attempt, and she released because it looked like it was going to be a wipe and she wanted to be ready to zone in as fast as possible, lol.
Hope: Always have it! I've been in so many first kills where there's like 1-2 people alive in the end, I refuse to give up. All the DPS is dead? Shit less people to heal SmiteSmiteSmiteSmite. NEVER SAY DIE. I wish they'd add a last man standing PvE achievement. (OK, no I don't I really... Flashbacks to the Sarth volcano suicide achievement)
Hate: Random patch? A few people got it when they logged in so we decided to all restart now and do it so we weren't waiting on people later. Getting weird errors trying to update, bleh.
Hate: We've killed Hard Mode 25man Twin Valks about 6 times (or more) and only seen 1 axe. And the guy who got it took a break almost immediately after due to burnout. So basically right now we have no 258 axes and we need like 5 if everyone who wants one is gonna get one.
Hate: Since the mini patch (which took some people 45 min to get) we've had about 5 people that can't manage to stay online. Bleh. Oh, and it's screwing up vent for some people and now I can't open 2 sessions through the downloader. Um, WAT

A lot of those issues can be resolved by closing WoW and opening it again (the vent thing for sure - that's being caused by WoW not running itself as an administrator for whatever reason).
That doesn't fix the launcher not allowing two instances of itself to exist, though. Not sure what is up with that, or the patch thing it made us download.

Hope: I hope that our new holy paladin isn't bad. We've had so many bad or short-lived holy paladins. Watch her be good but this new job she said she's starting make her unable to raid after all.
Amused: Apparently you can use chum from that one daily quest to summon sharks in the Dalaran fountain, some of which become land sharks. It's amazing to watch. I'm just standing here saying things like "WE'RE GONNA NEED A BIGGER BOAT!"

If that is the one that also summons a couple of Kvaldir, people were using that in that pond in Thunder Bluff near the Bank/AH.
Was kind of interesting watching it on my lvl 15 or so Warrior while doing some Blacksmithing.

We killed Anub on our alt 10man run right as he enraged. We were like "We got this, we got this... Oh shit no we don't! fuck!.. oh, wait, no we got this."
Unfortunately if you kill him after he enrages, they don't unweb the door and bring up a portal so we all had to burn our hearths.

What's funny is that the blues are acknowledging that it's a shit instance (even going so far as to compare it in terms of complexity to HToC) but rather than just outright removing it from the list of possibilities in the random dungeon tool, they're making it even easier to do.
Still won't change things, though - it's not a "hard" instance for players who know what they're doing, but for new players or those who are pants-on-head retarded, it's still going to be a kick in the dick.
Bah: We tried for herald of the titians... first 2 attempts we chalked up to lag, then the night ended early since our MT d/c'd and couldn't get back on due to error with patching. Oh well next week...
On the fence: Been looking at all my hit, really hate that balancing act. Almost tempted to race change to spacegoat... but I love my shadowmeld so much, I have saved myself many of repairs with that ability.
It's a small hate of mine but why are people this stupid
I really don't understand why people sell that pet or some of the other ones
It takes about 40 minutes to do all the dailies for them and every 4 days is a pet if you have opened all 9 quests
I really don't want to go to the toc raid because other than the dagger or staff I don't want anything in there on my warlock
My rogue on the other hand could use a lot of things in there

I'm not sure about it that.
In the very least, the patch was enforced from the server side for logging into the game at all.
