I was tanking OK the other day (warrior)
Trash pulls were basically "okay target the spell flinger first" and then I'd reflect the omghuegs spell they cast and laugh as they died. Not a big deal.
The only thing I don't like about Occulus is how it's layed out. I still get confused and fly to the wrong spots.
But yeah, it was never difficult really. Once you understood how to do it.
Also, I never thought HoL was difficult. HoS, to me, always seemed a bit harder in heroic mode. (not that it's hard, just didn't understand the HoL hate.)
Yeah, after watching a holy paladin in greens and blues heal HoL without wiping, our first time there, I somehow lost all respect for people who claimed it was hard.
Amusingly, I've recently wiped on Loken because the healer I had with me was so terrible that, in blues and epics, he couldn't heal the group, even though all of us had what would've been AMAZING tank health, back at the beginning of level 80.
I want a mod that tracks skill, through magic, so I can deny people groups not based on gearscore, but on skillscore, because it makes so very, very much more difference.
Edit: Also, I find it fun. I also find other vehicle fights fun. Doing something different in 3 whole encounters in all of wrath is just, I guess, not that offputting to me.
That's because HoL is on the tank and dps, not the healer. There's actually very little damage overall going around, UNLESS people run during arc welds, or don't run when they're going to explode, or don't run away from the sparks on that boss fight, etc. The only part that's legitimately difficult is the area between the third boss and Loken if you pull too many, because of those damn poison spears. If you're with incompetent pugs though, the place is hell to heal, and is the reason I completely stopped doing pug runs.
Yeah it's not bad at all, that was I think the second heroic I healed on my mostly green Shaman. The last bit of trash was a hassle until I brilliantly remembered "ohey I have cleansing totem on this toon." I think I died on Loken though.... I'm not used to having 15k health, oopsie. No worries, Anhk ftw!
Occulus is and always has been easy with people who know what they're doing.
Guild members, friends, people you've run instances with before, of course that shit is easy. You know they're likely on the ball and cut from an entirely different form of matter (not even just another cloth) than the average player.
PuG'ing it with 4 random asshats, however, is not what I call fun.
There's a reason I applaud any nerfs to that place, and usually just drop the quest if it comes up as the heroic daily; I probably can do it, but it's way too much effort and risk versus simply going and running instances that aren't a decent chance of finding people who are completely fucking retarded at vehicle encounters. Oh, but you only get to find that out right at the last boss.
Great.
At least with something like ToC you can find out who's "pants on head retarded" at vechicle stuff at the start of the instance, and as long as people are reasonably on the ball (not quite Guildy material, but not retarded either) you can 4 man it pretty easily, in my experience. I've yet to see nearly as much luck in the Oculus.
Seriously, fuck that place.

First they came for the Muslims, and we said NOT TODAY, MOTHERFUCKER!
I found Occulus really annoying even with guildies at first, although by the point where we got our heroic 5man protdrake, we weren't fond of it, but we had gotten pretty good at it. :P
End on
I wish that someway, somehow, that I could save every one of us
I agree pugging Oculus is hard with idiots who keep asking what does his button do
I really hate riding the green drakes for heals when all I need is the red one to finish that achievement
If they really wanted to fix Oculus, they'd get rid of all the random enemy drakes throughout the instance that are a pain in the ass to see that agro onto new people all the damn time (because it's so much fun to dismount off your drake only to find out you aggroed a drake you didn't see), or that sometimes decide to add during the second boss just to piss you off.

The best part about this whole situation is that the new matchmaking service will just make Oculus runs worse.
As it is now, if the daily is Oculus, you either do it or you don't. If you want the reward, you suck up and do it. Now, what's the penalty for not doing Oculus? 15 minutes? And you still get a chance at the reward by not doing a dungeon you hate? If the new LFG system is as great as they're saying it is and really gets you groups super fast, bring on the 15 minutes! Deserter debuff here I come.

Hope: Always have it! I've been in so many first kills where there's like 1-2 people alive in the end, I refuse to give up. All the DPS is dead? Shit less people to heal SmiteSmiteSmiteSmite. NEVER SAY DIE. I wish they'd add a last man standing PvE achievement. (OK, no I don't I really... Flashbacks to the Sarth volcano suicide achievement)
Hate: Random patch? A few people got it when they logged in so we decided to all restart now and do it so we weren't waiting on people later. Getting weird errors trying to update, bleh.
We killed Anub on our alt 10man run right as he enraged. We were like "We got this, we got this... Oh shit no we don't! fuck!.. oh, wait, no we got this."
Unfortunately if you kill him after he enrages, they don't unweb the door and bring up a portal so we all had to burn our hearths.
that must have been within 1-2 seconds of enrage because if he got off a single tick of Leeching Swarm while enraged he'd get healed for like 100,000.
Best Tuesday Ever: Maintenance ends and I get into my usual post-maintenance PUG raids (plus one TotC-10 PUG that asked me to come along). What's unusual is the extreme number of upgrades I picked up today. And the fact I won something in every single raid.
VoA-10: [Velen's Gloves of Conquest]
VoA-25: [Velen's Leggings of Triumph]
Ony-10: [Ashen Sack of Gems]
TotC-10: [Cinch of the Undying] (first time in there, now I have an achievment to link)
Ony-25: [Ashen Sack of Gems] (again)
And two emblem purchases.
Conquest emblems: [Conqueror's Robe of Sanctification]
Triumph emblems: [Talisman of Resurgence]
Happy as fuck: So I'm 4 quests from completing Storm Peaks, and I ask my guild wtf I'm missing, one guildy suggests the armor fragment drop over at Nidavelir, so I go over there, start killing golems, and I start to think to myself "huh wonder what that offcolored Proto Drake is doing out hoooooooooo Shiiit!"

I can never get my bearings right on any flying vehicle fight. I can usually figure out the basics easily enough; it just feels weird.
And I think my priest is cursed. I keep getting into groups consisting of only melee, which isn't so bad except they like staying in aoe damage. Last run was an unguilded rogue and 3 DKs. At least they could have done decent DPS to make up for always getting hit by shit.

If that's all there is my friends, then let's keep dancing
Happy: My friend officially tanked!
Ugh: We had an undergeared (he's geared fine for PvP...) Disc Priest with an ego problem healing.
Hate: My friend is a bit squishy. 25k health bear. Not TOO bad for heroic UP. I tanked it with that much health on my Paladin. But of course the Disc. Priest is in PvP gear, and he's Discipline, so he's not really made for big healing that I needed.
I ask if he wants me to Heal, since I carry my Resto gear with me at all times. He insists "You wouldn't be able to keep her up any better."
I bite my tongue. My Shaman isn't exactly t9.5 geared out in all Thrall healing for obscene amounts. He's got some very good gear considering I rarely raid, am unguilded, and he was my first healer. He's got a mix of t8.5, t9.5, Ony, ToC gear Elemental and Resto. And it's all PvE gear. Yeah your 8k Flash of Light crits or whatever piddly number are adorable but I cast Healing Wave on the same cooldown for more than double that. I can, in fact, keep her alive better than you.
I know for a FACT that I will do a better job of keeping her alive. My tank friend admits to me in whisper that the next time she does this? I'M her healer.
EDIT: Xynn reminded me!
Happy/Hate: Paladin rolled against me and a Warlock for the Glinting Azuresong Mageblade. A Paladin. A Holy Paladin. "It's better than my healing mace!" Barely. He gains something like 40 spellpower and some crit. Luckily, (the Happy) I roll a 97 and win it.
Ha HA!: The other Mage (who had a way better weapon) says in Raid "It's pretty weak that you'd roll on a sword with HIT on it." Troll Mages unite.
Happy: I got a new off hand from ToC25 the other night!
I feel kinda bad though since the person that originally won is typically a healing priest but was running shadow for the night. Everyone in raid gave him crap over the item since it had Hit on it, he didnt really care that much(guild regularly clears HToC25 and I just tag along on normal ToC25) so he gave it to me.

Grats! Every time I fly over Storm Peaks, I look for that guy. He's the best Proto, imo.
Last week we basically guild "pugged" toc 10. TOC 10. And cleared it once everyone got comfortable with each other. It's easy right?
Last night, however, was a completely fucking different story. The "regulars" apparently who all but disappeared because they were too fuckin' stupid to get past faction champs all on their lonesome came back. TOC 25 GEARED PEOPLE FUCKING UP 10 MAN NORTHREND BEASTS LIKE IT WAS THEIR JOB TOO.
WHAT? THE TANK DIED 4 TIMES IN A ROW WHILE ACIDMAW SPAWNS?
WHAT? THE RETARDED SHAMAN KEEPS HITTING HEROISM IMMEDIATELY AFTER WE ENGAGE LIKE IT UNLOCKS HIS HEALING BUTTONS?
WHAT? THE DPS GET NO HEALS WHATSOEVER FOR 10+ SECONDS ON FACTION CHAMPS THEN YOU BLAME THEM?
Fuck you, you carried fags. This is why I stopped raiding on my shaman, I knew that we wouldn't progress because of people like this and now its creeping up again in fucking normal mode 10 mans.
Happy: Deathknight is level 80 #4
Happy: I've gotten to run some ToC normals (black heart on the first one yay), and some heroics (the tank chestplate and ring from heroic DTK yay).

Yeah, my current guild is a bunch of mouthbreathers. It's like, sure, we down hardmodes and shit, but on the other hand, I hate almost every single one of them, for shit like that. I miss my old PA guild due to omgwtfawesome, but running uld normal modes every week day in and day out gets really boring.
so i'm basically using my current guild for [strike]sex[/strike] loot and achievements
Hate: Instead of doing 25ToC and 25ToGC last night we ran two 25ToCs. I mean, it's fun and all to play my green geared Warlock with a shitty spec in a supposedly difficult raid (15th on dps, baby! woo!) but I'd rather be doing something on my warrior, a character I care about.
Happy: Got 245 DPS gloves from Koralon and 245 tanking pants from 25ToC for the warrior.
Hate 2: I spent 70 badges on gems for those two pieces of gear. I'm down to 37 Conquest Emblems.
Happy: Playing WoW since June, Warrior from the start
Happy: The day before yesterday I went into the Trial of the Champion for the first time. Black Heart drops. Guild is okay that I Need. Win over the Paladin. Can't use it, still 79
More Happy: Yesterday. Ding! 80! 2 Minutes later I'm standing with my guild in front of Heigan. I did well doing the dance, others didn't... we'll see again next week. The moment I get into the raid I hear *ding* *ding*... get the trade window and one of the members gives me five fitting gems for my sockets. "I need to level Jewelcrafting anyway, you need them, here you are."
HATE: 245 Rogue pants dropped from Koralon last night... the other rogue rolls a 15... then I roll a 10.
Happy: Almost enough triumph badges for my Tier 9 shoulders.

PS3: MistaCreepy::Steam: MistaCreepy::360: Dead and I don't feel like paying to fix it.
Happy: Finally! Finally, Koralon drops holy pally gear. And it's the legs! I win the roll, get my 245 legs, and then use my stockpile of badges to buy the 232 gloves. Helloooo 4pc bonus.
Hate: Even though the glove upgrade gained me 60 haste, switch from the Legguards of Failing Light to the T9.3 lost me 84 haste. Crap. I'm sitting about 370 haste now. I'm almost tempted to start gemming haste in, since I currently have over 33k mana raidbuffed.
I feel you Justinsane, I blew about 120 emblems last night on epic gems. Now I have to run heroics.. gah!
Hate: Guildy screwed me over on Abyss Crystals on a 5m TOC regular farm quest. The other 3 memebers of the group left, not caring about shards.
He gave me TWO.
I asked him for more and he said lol no thats okay.. dick hole!
HATE: 245 Rogue pants dropped from Koralon last night... the other rogue rolls a 15... then I roll a 10.
Happy: Almost enough triumph badges for my Tier 9 shoulders.
On the opposite spectrum yesterday both the pants and gloves dropped :> I won both rolls but the unannounced 1/raid kicked in.
But I did 7k and the other rogue did 2k on koralon ;(
I think thats the only thing that irks me, if theres a person doing amazing damage and another doing pitiful damage, does the person with pitiful damage really deserve to be there in the first place?
