Is there a thread on the official forums like this? It seems like there would be... Fun game for raid nerds.
Oh Thank God: Anub down again tonight. We were REALLY CLOSE to getting it with 45 attempts left, but ended up at 44. Oh well...
Hate: Due to the luck of rolls and raid comp, a few people ended up getting TWO 258 items tonight, including boots I really really want. Meanwhile I got a single 245 ring that I'm not even sure I wanted. Sigh.
A post went up on the forums about organising a TM / SS battle. It went up 3 weeks ago, and was scheduled for yesterday, thinking this would give people enough notice, and also, with it being on a tuesday, people would be free from raids.
I should note, that the alliance : horde ratio, for level 80's is about 80:20 on our server.
So cometh the day, off we went to TM, and what did we meet? About 30 alliance, who gave up after about 10 mins. So what do a big old chunk of horde do? We go off to SW where we fought for about 3 and a half hours. Alliance might have not turned up to TM, but they did all come along to SW.
Particular highlights include roaming street battles getting attacked from all directions, holding up in the AH for a while, then making a break for the trams, where even more fights took place, including fights on the trams. It was like people wanted to create the uncharted 2 train sequence. We got to the IF end, and got attacked from people waiting, in addition to alliance coming in on trams.
We then went into IF and met another blue wall; some pulled some horde back to the gnome king, who then had to be killed, and while this happened, we got attacked by more. We then ran around IF in street and house battles, before we finally got overwhelmed and died in the house right next to the battleground masters.
At which point we got camped. I went off to eat, and when I came back, people were still there. So, like any normal person, I decided to rez and make a run for it. I had to use a Living Action Potion to get to the trams, at which point I was rewarded by a tram just arriving. The alliance chasing me, got to see me /wave just as the train pulled out.
Good times.

Happy: fuck year a new/old guildie came back and is gonna try to bring yet another one back
this new venture of ours is starting to shape up and become a reality
Happy: Healed my first raid (just VoA) as a holy pally. It went pretty smooth considering it was my first time. Kinda felt like I was in the military though, they told me what to do, and I just did it. I didn't even have to think really hehe.
its funny, thinking back to all the BC bosses most of them have such easy mechanics that would most likely be achievements of some sort if they were in Wrath, and no one would have ever got any of them.
Lurker: defeat the lurker without anyone being hit by spout.
Leothras: kill him without anyone dying to whirlwind.
Fathom Lord: kill all the adds and FLK within 30 seconds of each other (that would be a pain in the ass)
Morogrim: kill 40 murlocs within 15 seconds.
Vashj: Kill with only 4 core elementals spawning.
Vashj: kill her without her getting any buff from the adds.
Hydross should be something about doing it without trigger happy DPS/Dot users dragging agro but its hard to articulate in an achievement form. You could really do some bad ass hard modes for that content though. Extending my vashj achieve having only 4 elementals spawn so you couldn't miss a core would be intense. Or possibly just frustrating as all hell. Leothras would be something like XT in reverse. ie you do enough damage to his demon in one phase that it permanently splits and you do the rest of the fight with them both up.
Hmm you know what those fights were already hard enough, I think doing as others have suggested here and treating the current mode as hard mode and removing stuff makes more sense!
Amusing: Guildie tried to put together an Alt Ulduar 10 man run. The final comp ended up being all Druids, DKs, and Pallies, and a single Warrior. I ended up DPSing since both one of the Druids and the Warrior were pure tank alts and geared as such. No gear on the run though (I passed on tanking gear to the warrior since he was tanking and I wasn't, and anything he passed on I had better already). We ended up stopping after Auriaya since we were pretty sure gearwise none of us were up
Doing Kologarn was....interesting.

The DPS requirement for that would just be insane. Healers would be overwhelmed pretty fast. Killing Al'ar without killing adds would be a worthwhile achieve, although it was actually a strat for some guilds (mine included). Kael'thas would be an inverse Yogg, with leaving his adds alive making it harder. Kael + 4 anyone?

I've just read something from WoWWiki and want to see if it's true.
So I got to this house and head upstairs in the room with the fireplace.
The 6 kids that walk around Goldshire all walk into the room and form a kind of semi-circle around the rug in the room, staring each other down...
I'm still waiting for what I have heard to happen... the slotted time passes, I start to lose hope.
The kids remain there, staring at each other... the tension builds...
And then over my (which I forgot were cranked speakers) a voice booms out:
YOU WILL DIE!

Gorefiend was fun. We had a holy paladin who lived in terror of fucking up constructs. To the point where she'd be asked to be swapped out. So when she finally had to do it? She nailed it. Her constructs didn't even get close. On the other hand we had a mage who tore into the people on the first few attempts. So when his turn came up? Didn't stop a single fucking construct.
Happy: gearing my Pally is coming along nicely. I can sufficiently heal Uld10, and with a few conquest replacements I should be good to go into T9 content soon. He's also got a good enough tank set to do heroics so woo flexibility.
Hate: RL-friends guild is basically in shambles, hardly anyone on, kinda want to move on to another guild, except for a couple of friends cooling their heels with me in this guild.
Hate: Two separate guilds are pushing hard trying to recruit my fiance and I, no clue what to do.
Man I was raid leading at the time and while I pride myself on being an above average player (I screwed up rarely enough to feel happy bawling other people out for mistakes on a regular basis) I just had a mental block on constructs. I failed the first few times so badly which sort of sucks when you are also having to tell people to get their shit together on constructs :P I was a healer at the time though and it always seeme to me that DPS'ers got it much faster than healers. I always blamed it on a UI thing
Wrath has been similar with most fights not giving me issues until General Vezax where I discovered I had a mental block about shadow crashes. God knows why its not hard and its the only thing in this content I have failed on with anything remotely approaching regularity. Stupid brain....

RL friends are for RL. Good guilds make or break a WoW experience. Get recruited. Go play at a better standard. Have more fun. Take your RL mates for a beer on off nights. Problem solved. I accept Euros or Pounds.

Its a fair point, there are some other logistics that still need sorting. There are the active members of my current guild whom I would like to take with me (all three of them), so I will have to see what happens.
OTHER HATE: GM (RL gf of friend) complains that she doesn't have time to log on these days, then comes up to visit and plays Dragon Age all weekend. I won't begrudge anyone playing a different game, but don't bullshit me, you just don't fucking feel like it.

From WoWwiki:
A bit to the north of Goldshire there is a house with skinning and leatherworking trainers. On the second floor of this house you can sometimes meet six children forming a pattern of a pentagram, silent and unmoving. They will however occasionally move out of the house to walk/run in a pentagram formation. They return to their house at around 7:40 in the morning, and at this time a soundfile will play something eerie, usually "You will die". Whether they make their rounds at other times of the day is unknown. Unconfirmed rumors also say they despawn at 8:00 pm.
Oddly enough, if you stand in the middle of the kids and use quest helper, you are 666 yards from the Elwynn Forest/Stormwind border.

Yeah our most veteran hunter did this recently. He's started college finally so he's been busier with school stuff and not being able to stay up all night every night playing WoW. Finally he told us he just doesn't have time to raid anymore. Except he still logs on two or three nights a week to bring his warrior to alt runs, and we see him on Steam playing Modern Warfare 2 all the time, or on Vent playing HoN with other ex-guildies. "I don't have time to raid" often means "I don't feel like wiping on Anub three nights a week instead of this other stuff." Which is fine, but be honest about it, otherwise you just look like a tool.

Success: Finally got into a ToC-10 PUG that cleared the raid with only a single wipe. Offtank at Anub was standing on the ice, the add they were tanking was not. We did have good DPS for a PUG, anyway. Got him to P3 with only one submerge in each attempt.
Gearing Up: In between Champions and Twins I stepped out and picked up the 75-Triumph cloth helm, and earlier picked up a 245-level PvP cloak from Koralon that turned out to be better than my 213-level Valor emblem cloak, despite the points spent on stamina and resilience.
Last night we had an unusually large number of people online so we decided to grab some pugs and do Vault 25 before our scheduled Vault/Ony 10. The mount drops from Arch and I tie with a guildy by rolling a 91. We reroll and I get a 23, he rolls an 11.

Can't top the "then it dropped again" bit but I've tied with a guildie with rolls of 100 on that mount.
I won it. It dropped again a week or two later, and he won it that time.
