    Obviously.

After the warm reception it got in BRB (and in GH before that), I couldn't see them not entertaining the idea of patching it in unless it simply couldn't be done with their current software.

Right, this is pretty much what I was trying to say in a much more obtuse manner.

Of course that begs the question "Why not just use the BRB engine to make LRB?", but I'm guessing it's because maybe they haven't somehow figured out compatibility between the two yet and they really wanted LRB to export to RB2 right away.

they were almost certainly developing the two at the same time and with different teams. would have added to LRB's development time to push in the BRB engine improvements.

btw guys, RBN's beta->open beta->live transitions are going to take longer than expected. no new ETAs, just a little "hey it's delayed".

So I guess George Harrison's kid is working on RB3 with HMX?
"I'm working on 'Rock Band 3' and making the controllers more real so people can actually learn how to play music while playing the game," he says. "Give me a couple years, it's going to happen."

So my Xplorer finally died. What would be the best replacement for it? I liked the xplorer mainly because of the size and the clicky, bouncy strum bar. I also own a RB1 strat, and I cannot stand using it at all.

I was considering the GH:World Tour guitars. Anybody have any experiences with these? I want to make sure I get a quality product.

One thing I've noticed about LRB... unlike Rock Band and RB2, it doesn't list songs by overall difficulty. Instead, it seems to create different difficulty charts based on the instruments you're playing. For example, the first tier is all 0 rank on guitar, the second is 1 rank, etc. I like that.

RB2 does this in single-player quickplay.

Two Princes is pretty tricky on drums. Thats alot of work for your left hand. I only 4 and a half starred it on my sightread, but its going to take some effort and practice to get it down.

Obviously I know nothing about game programming because the pause timer seems like it would be a pretty easy thing to patch in.

You have extremely limited space for 360 patches, so they'd rather reserve the space for stuff like RBN features instead of pausing, because doing a UI change like that could take a lot of space.

I remember moss saying that it was a miracle that Rock Band 1 has the store in the first place due to the space limitations.

This is also more than likely why the patch that added star tracking was done the way it was, because it would take less code space to just have a new sort category than it would to completely change thet UI to show starts next to each song

    Yes.

Of course every time I've been it's only to buy products for my Rock Band instruments.

Guitar straps, replacement cymbals for my ION kit... that sort of thing.

The drum guy knows I play an electronic kit because of the cymbals and sticks I buy, but I don't want to have to confess it's not a "real" kit...

And none of this stops people from bitching endlessly about how it should've been easy to provide an update that gives them their every little desire. Anybody paying attention had to know that the star tracking wouldn't have been exactly what people wanted. Some think they might still be able to patch in harmonies into RB2...

Any further updates the 360 might see will basically contain full RBN support (if it's necessary), potentially sorting out the Quickplay star tracking, and maybe some minor thing nobody but HMX is concerned about. Hell, due to LRB, there's no specific guarantee that they will bother to include RB2-to-RB3 export support.

As far as I know, RBN is already fully in. I think they included the necessary store updates in the patch, they just have to 'flip the switch' on it. Assuming it's not, they'll just have to patch in whatever's required for the RBN storefront.

I'm pretty sure that the audition mode update included everything for that, though.

Which is why I included the caveat. I doubt they'd issue an update to make the star tracking work 'correctly' in BQP, but they might for exportability. Of course, we won't know what they might plan for that until they at least confirm RB3 and what role RB2 will play leading up to it.

I finally beat "Panic Attack" on expert drums. The only really hard parts in that song are the fast alternating double-bass to snare & cymbal bits (i.e. the one you see in the intro segment). The rest of the song is pretty much cake.

I went on to try "Painkiller," which was a joke. The only hard part of that song is that it's fast and overcharts the bass notes--it's more of a stamina test than skill (except for the solos perhaps).

The only on-disc song I need to beat on drums now is "Shoulder to the Plow." I can't seem to hit the verse sections, but I will get it down. I will!

One thing I love about these games is when you finally reached a certain level of skill to where you can finally beat songs you never thought you could beat, and get five stars on songs that you could barely pass. Beating "Visions" and "Battery" made me cheer for joy (well, rasp for joy after that exhausting exercise). Coming back to songs I could only three-star before and five-starring them makes me feel a warm sense of accomplishment. I strongly doubt, however I will ever reach the point where I can five-star "What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse," or even pass it :?

Has anyone enjoyed a particular recent release? Dinosaur Jr.'s "Pick Me Up" was fun as hell on guitar. And "Science Genius Girl" is easily one of the best drum charts out there.

I'm afraid to purchase "Satch Boogie." That song will chew me up and spit me out as a sorry, carpal-ridden carcass.

Lastly, who wants to bet they will make the keyboard segments of "Icky Thump" solos?

Holy shit why does LEGO Rock Band have some of the hardest songs on drums in the entire series?

I have hit my LEGO-BRICK WALL.

Fuck you "Aliens Exist". Fuck you "Two Princes". I can not pass either.
I am LUCKY when I pass "Suddenly I See" (although the intro is all that gives me trouble, if I can clear it), and "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic". And that fucking Razorlight song and "Real Wild Child" can also go fuck themselves.

I havent even gotten to "Fire" yet. But seriously, what the hell!? I beat PANIC ATTACK!

Just bought Rock Band 2 new from Gamestop after the latest price drop. Hooked it up, and.... drum pads are totally non-responsive. The d-pad and the face buttons work fine, but the pads do nothing. Is this something I can resolve at home, or do I have to send them into EA?
