Though its worth mentioning this will be the first album we've got that pre-dates Sgt. Peppers, so there won't be any new dreamscapes this time. Probably all songs will be at the Budokan/Shea Stadium?
Edit: Welp, HMX surprised me yet again. They've posted a Preview Video on their website, with bits of each song. It appears Norwegian Wood, Girl, Nowhere Man, Michelle, and In My Life will have their own "dreamscapes" with the rest being at Shea Stadium. Looks like pre-studio DLC will have dreamscapes!

People at the rockband.com forums say they're all dreamscapes...

Can we get the chemicals in. 'Cause anything's better than this.

Well I don't know if you can trust that video really...
It shows Drive My Car clearly being played at Shea Stadium, but the venue in the game for it is Budokan. Really strange. If it were just a clip of them without any instrument tracks playing I would think it might just be edited to look like them singing Drive My Car there, but it definitely shows the appropriate vocal line hovering above the Shea performance.

Yeah, I'm aware. I'm not saying it's "faked" or unofficial or anything, but they show one song that's definitely not actually in Shea Stadium being performed at Shea Stadium - so why is it impossible to reach the conclusion that any other Shea Stadium performances shown might be in a similar vein?
Not something I would buy. I have nothing against Green Day, but I'd never buy a whole game dedicated to them. Especially since I can't think of any song of theirs that would be challenging on anything other than drums.
Pass.

Sorry, guys. It's all true. I can't say much because of embargoes and what not, but this seems like the only way you'll ever get significant stuff from Green Day (You can thank Warner for this). If what I'm led to believe is correct, it's actually quite a lot.
Oh, and you didn't hear this from me, but the Longview master is gone.
Seriously? I thought we had successfully passed the days of band-centric games. I would love to hear the reasoning behind making this a game instead of DLC considering we already have DLC from this artist.
Because Classic Rock is superior to all forms of rock and is the only kind of rock deserving of a full game?
No, because Led Zeppelin is the only band that has the mass appeal, catalog of different music, and technical level worthy or devoting an entire game to.
I don't mind any band-centric RBs, even if they were for bands I don't like, as long as they do it the "right" way as opposed to Activision's "fucking terrible" way.
If I were a GH fan that wanted to play "Pretty Fly (For a White Guy" by The Offspring, guess which game I'd have to get? Guitar Hero: Van Halen, that's what. Keep only music by that band in the band-specific games and I'm good.
It works two ways, actually; one, I don't want a song by a band I like ending up in a game that's specifically catered to a band that I don't like, and two, if I play a game centered around a band, chances are I don't want to be playing other shit. With the exception of "The Boys Are Back in Town", every non-Metallica song in GH Metallica was a chore to play through because I just wanted to play Metallica.
Also, they could always re-record "Longview", right?
Sorry. I don't work for HMX though I really wish I did. I happen to have close contacts in the music biz.
As for Longview, there is actually another master of it at a slightly higher BPM. It could be slowed down and used in the original master's place. However, someone on Green Day's end specifically wants the original for the game and will not hear otherwise. The problems is that master never made it to its destination over 10 years ago.

But hey, your assumption was close.
I'm not so sure.
Tastes and abilities aside, I think a Green Day-centric Rock Band would sell more than a Led Zeppelin-centric one.
Look at the sales of The Beatles: Rock Band; it's the fucking Beatles and it didn't sell amazingly. The crossover between music game players and fans of classic rock probably isn't as high as people think.

I think the Beatles are a good bit further away from the majority of RB players than Zeppelin is, though.
But even just beyond the music tastes, a Zeppelin game would have the high-end difficulty required on both guitars and drums to at least interest people that don't love the music. The Beatles game, though, was mostly a breeze, so there was little point to it if you didn't like the music.
Green Day's got the advantage over the Beatles in that their music is more popular among the general majority of RB players (and more loathed, however), but they have the same problem of the actual technical part of it probably not being interesting enough for those that aren't hardcore Green Day fans.
Look, as long as I'll eventually be able to play full albums of American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown, with the fitting tracks having no skips between them like on Abbey Road if you bought the full album, I'll be a happy, happy man.
I'm thinking of playing "Jesus of Suburbia" right now and I'm getting all hot and bothered
So... the White Stripes has split tipple cords. Songs full of them. On Bass.
What's up with this shit. I'm going to have to jump over to guitar to practice.
If it's a full $60 package like Beatles they can go fuck themselves, if it's another $30 thing like AC/DC I still don't care, but I'll probably eventually get it for Dookie stuff.

I hope we get a White Album track pack, since as others have said there's no way we're getting the full album.

will buy if exportable
I'll rent if exportable, buy if not. I fucking hate the idea of this, but Christ will I buy it in a heartbeat.
I'm part of the problem.
@gamefacts - Totally and utterly true gaming facts on the regular!
Not buying/renting/playing it either way though.

methinks it'll be Lego RB-style exportable, with the existing Green Day DLC adding onto the game
Yes
Harmonix pissed away all their goodwill by announce a game that will release late next year
damnit Harmonix why did you have to go release a band game centered around a band I don't like
Oh, and you didn't hear this from me, but the Longview master is gone.
also i think people were bitching more about the quality of those games than the actual bands.
Aerosmith was well put together.
Metallica was decent.
Van Halen was "SHIP IT"
Smash Hits was "okay let's have an unproven studio chart guitar oh my fucking god what is happening"
Also, they could always re-record "Longview", right?
Anyways, totally gonna buy this in a fucking heartbeat. Green Day is one of the very few bands of which I enjoy every album.
Also, Billy's model needs to sing less "normally." It just looks like it's missing emotion.
The only band left that should get that treatment is Led Zeppelin. If it's not Zep, Harmonix shouldn't waste our time or their resources on it.

They could re-record it. And then a bunch of people would get all pissy about how it's not the same version and it sucks. Or something.

Only certain bands deserve band games!
The rest of them are limited to [strike]ECW[/strike] DLC releases only because that is all they deserve
You know, besides the fact that all the money is still in disc releases because not everyone has the internet
Yes, yes that would be about right.

There... All better.
There is a reason why the highest number of in-game RB songs are from the last decade...
I think the Beatles are a good bit further away from the majority of RB players than Zeppelin is, though.

That might not be in there for a whole other reason.
