Will the Steam version of this have any sort of Steam specific DRM, potentially affecting mods etc? Or will it just be downloaded via Steam, with patches downloaded via the EA service?

I was looking at that list because I'm an idiot, and I noticed you do get the opportunity to choose sides on a number of quests. There's an achievement for siding with the Mages, and likewise an achievement if you side with the Templars.

You can defy them, but remember, the Chantry is a massive organization based out of the dominant kingdom of Orlais. Origins takes place exclusively in Fereldan which is the least developed of the nations.
Odds of you dealing any significant damage to the organization as a whole are terribly low if not non-existent.
Is it just me or is Bioware's social site tremendously fucked? I can't log in anymore. I try to log in with my EA account and it just gives me shit about needing to fill in additional fields in some sort of Profile Setup but there's seriously nothing on the screen I haven't filled out.
Yet it continues to refuse to let me progress. I'm especially irritated since I'm pretty sure I set up all this a while ago.

I already have EA and Bioware accounts and if I log in with the Bioware one, I can't proceed because "An EA Account already exists with that email address" and since the account creation process isn't finished, I can't log out and try logging in with my EA account either.
If we could have the balance choice between good and evil actually be even it would be nice. Also, I want my hairy ugly warbastard character to be a brawling evil bastard. Good deep deep down, but very bad in how he goes about doing the good. Willing to kill anyone and would definitely let the one die to save the many. He'd probably let quite a lot die to save a little more than half.
By that I merely meant that he wants what's best for whatever/whoever he stands for. Not that he is like chaotic good or something, like, he's not going to save a starving hobo unless doing so will get him a giant axe he can use to better serve his clan against the king.

Pretty much, although he doesn't kill for no reason, he only does it when it will actually create a gain for his leader/faction. He doesn't want to be on the plot, he just wants to further the one he backs ideals as he's more a weapon in the hand of another. He doesn't want to think, just do what he's told.
I think I'll try to play him like this. If someone tries to push him off his necessary path, he just kills them or ignores them.. teehee.

My characters are usually morally ambiguous but polite characters who get railroaded by the plot and just end up becoming polite good guys and sometimes forcibly heroic o_O

Most of my characters fall under that heading.
He'll save children, but not the british children.
