But really, know that if any of you don't vote for the 1977 Aston Martin V8 Vantage, 1973 Ford Falcon GT XB, 1971 De Tomaso Pantera, or 1982 Lancia 037 Stradale, I will slap you upside the head so hard.

Appending that I will double-slap anyone who doesn't also vote for the AMX. There are no racing games with a classic AMC muscle car in them, and this needs to be remedied, STAT.
I voted for 4 of those 5 cars, does that count?
Sorry not really much of an aston fan, and don't feel like wasting a vote on something that will probably win anyway.
Yeah pHRED was going to gift a DLC car, but wanted to give more people time to get the pack, so we get the Lexus instead. He chose that one so people could sell it back for quite a few credits if they wanted.
OK, I've found something about the Forzalopnik poll that makes me even angrier than the DeLorean's success: the 1970 Datsun 240Z's success. I mean, I love the first-gen Z a ton- but that's why I bought the 1969 Fairlady Z432 that's already in the game. Another near-identical one with right-hand drive and rearview mirrors on the doors instead of the fenders is absolutely pointless, especially if it keeps out something like the goddamned Hemi 'Cuda.

Well I think that's mainly the reason there are disclaimers that say turn 10 gets the final pick. So if totally lame shit like the 240z or probe get in they can just choose one of the other finalists.
THE WINNERS! I ain't mad at this at all, actually.
EDIT: And here's the car chosen by the staff of Jalopnik, which should be good news for fans of high-powered truck-bed muscle cars and/or Spanish translations of Cormac McCarthy novels.
Well I'm glad the Lancia, Saab and Cosworth's made it in, but the rest are terrible. I thought several of the Aston's were in the top 3 of every round of voting. This is a pass, I think.

Terrible? A Carroll Shelby turbocharged Dodge Omni? The Javelin AMX, which beat the daylights out of Camaros and Mustangs in the Trans Am series? The batshit outrageous Mercedes Evo II? Tim Horton's Death Car?
Terrible was the wrong word - cars I have no interest in. I would much rather have a few more Aston's than boxes with big engines, but that's just because I'm an Aston fan. I will retract comment for the Mitsubishi, looking forward to the Top Gear skins for that!

Fair's fair- I love the DB4 GT Zagato and V8 Vantage plenty, and I'd happily see the BMW or DeLorean ditched to accomodate them. On the other hand, at least we're getting a car pack where nobody is going to complain about having to spend 200,000 credits just to buy the car they want.
Oh, and the agony isn't over- of the 14 cars that made the final round, only nine of them are going to make it to the final DLC package, contingent on how available the cars are going to be for scanning and modeling reference. On the other hand, isn't Jalopnik going in on another DLC pack, too? And are they going to be modern cars, or classics that were otherwise inexplicable omissions from the voting ('60s Mini Cooper, Alpine-Renault A110, Ferrari 512BB, any number of classic Maseratis, etc.)?
EDIT: Oh, OK, the Jalopnik-seal-of-approval March car pack is all 09/10 models. Aside from the Lexus LFA, I can't think of one I'd be especially excited for- and I don't even think it's a '10 model.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Holden W427 and Opel Insignia OPC make it into this one, they're both confirmed to be ready to go, solid cars, and would be great additions.

That's right, the W427 was bumped back from the January pack, wasn't it? That Opel looks pretty good, too, though AWD sedans aren't necessarily my thing.
So, word from Forzacentral is that Turn 10 wants to put in all the jalopnik cars, and if they can actually get their hands on drivable examples of each for modelling and sound recording purposes they'll all go in.
The requirement of a drivable example available to turn 10 to be put in the game invites the interesting question of where exactly they got a Shelby Daytona to do that with.

*sigh*
I really didn't want to have to kill you all...but seeing as my '77 TA didn't make it...you all realize you've effectively sealed your fate.
The Vantage V8 didn't make it, either. Although I'm kinda glad Jalopnik rigged it in the end. (Notice how the Starion got in? No votes, and not many people were crying for it in the comments -- but it was an editor favorite.)
But how could you not vote for this car?
Come the fuck on! It's the British version of the Mustang! A V8! And an Aston Martin all rolled into one!
0-60 in 5.3! 170mph!
How could you not, dammit!
Anyways. I am still mostly happy with the results.

The omissions of this, the '80 Esprit Turbo and the '77 Trans Am lead me to the conclusion that our generation is under the completely deluded impression that Marty McFly is cooler than James Bond and the Bandit.

I don't even think it's necessarily "our" generation. Of course, I also don't know how old you are, sir, and it's a distinct possibility that there is a large generational gap between us. I am nigh on my six and twentieth year, and I wholly believe that James Bond and Bandit Darville would kick McFly's ass all over creation. It makes me very sad to think that there are some who would disagree, no matter what the age group. I mean, I love Back to the Future, and all...but 007 and the first Smokey and the Bandit are all-time classics with iconic, badass performance cars abound.

Maybe it's not so much a single generation's doing as it is this last decade's emphasis on '80s nostalgia perpetrated by 30-somethings and bought into by teens/early-twenties consumers who think Members Only jackets were totally outrageous and hilarious. I'm tail-end of Gen X, old enough to think Back to the Future was cool when it came out in theaters but young enough to mistake the DeLorean for a supercar at the time. By the time schoolyard arguments turned to whether the 959 was better than the F40, I'd started to get the notion that the DMC wasn't exactly a worldbeater, and watching The Spy Who Loved Me when ABC showed James Bond films on TV was enough to convince me that the Esprit was cooler.
I never really liked the Delorean, even after BTTF. I'm in that same age group, and I spent most of my time begging my parents to rent me anything that had a Ferrari in it. Magnum PI, Cannonball Run.. anything that had exotic Italian cars in it. My buddy and I would even scour the ads in the back of car and driver for VHS tapes of people driving Ferrari's.
I spent most of the 80's unable to imagine any car ever looking better than the Testarossa or the 288.
And then the F40 was announced. Man that was a game changer right there.
So, just watching the Rolex 24 preshow, and they really need to raid this for some cars. From the Daytona Prototypes (which would probably clock in around R2 and would be a cool variation on the R1 prototypes, being a bit slower and easier to drive), to all the interesting GT class cars there. Racing versions of the Mazda RX-8, Camaro, GTO, and the non-production GXP.R, all would be really cool additions that aren't currently represented in the game.

It's not that the editors rigged it, it's that the Jalopnik regulars all voted straight-Golden Ticket at the end.
which I don't really have a problem with, I guess. I mean, hey, the AMX made it.
What I'm more concerned with is whether you'll be able to do the nordschleife+gp circuit or if they'll be separate.. not sure they're gonna want to have us download an updated copy of the ring.

The screenshots of the GP circuit show a sunny sky, while the Nurb in-game is overcast, so I'm not sure if they're going to account for two possibly different models with different lighting being fused together.

If everything goes well all 15 cars you see below will be featured in the DLC pack that is going to be released sometime this summer.
Frangio: I thought T10 only picks up 9 of them and jalopnik chooses one more to make a 10 cars DLC.
Badned: They changed it to 15!
If he is wrong (or lying) I am going to be very upset.
Badned has been wrong about stuff like that before (he'd said that there were going to be 11 cars in the first pack, for example). Most likely not because he was lying, but because things have a tendency to get pushed back in development like that, and if you've got 11 cars but 10 is what people are expecting and one of the cars comes up with a problem at the last minute or is behind schedule, you're probably not going to sweat that hard to get the 11th car in.

Yeah, the thing here is that this pack was originally announced as a 10-car pack, so I'm not sure what inside info he got where they decided to make it 15. (Maybe Turn10 figured that with a car pack consisting entirely of older, mostly semi-obscure models, they'd need more cars to justify the DLC cost?)

Seriously doubt I'll even pick up this pack.
More R Class cars and tracks please.

I really wish we'd get Daytona, but the licensing for that must be ridiculously expensive.
I just hope/wish there's a way to integrate it into career mode.

Hey...
Hey...
Don't I remember you posting screenshots of your Forza 2 paint jobs? The racing livery on the NSX, right?
And to answer your question, the PA Forza 3 community seems to have quelled a bit.
