Fixing my Netbook's Webcam

I have an MSI Wind Netbook that I bought in Hong Kong and I have no idea of the model number. It has a small inbuilt webcam that I'd like to use on skype but I can't get the OS it to recognise it. When I first bought the netbook I formatted it and installed both Ubuntu and the Windows 7 Release Candidate and it doesn't work on either.

Does anyone have any ideas for how to get this thing running?

There's often an option for turning a built in webcam on or off in the BIOS, you may check there first to see if it's an option and turned off.

There's bound to be some sort of identification numbers on a sticker on the bottom of the netbook. Maybe posting them here would be of some help in someone identifying the exact model you have. That can go a long way toward finding drivers.

You're very right SenorAmor, I just flipped it round and it's an MSI Wind U100x. I really should have checked that first!

I found the answer... Apparently the webcam is turned off by default, so Fn-Key & F6 turns it on. It works fine now.

    Cheers anyway guys,
