Possible to share save files between PSP and PS3 for PsOne games?

Title pretty much sums it up. I just bought a PS3, and downloaded FFVII from the PSN (no spoilers, please!). I realized you can play PSOne games on the PSP also, which I'm considering buying. Now here's my question: Can I transfer the save files back and forth between my PS3 and a PSP? Or am I locked into the one or the other as soon as I've made any progress on one of them? The answer to this question will go a long way towards deciding whether or not I'll get a PSP...

    Yes you can, and it's rather simple. I've got a PSP and PS3, and keep swapping my save for Silent Hill between the two. It makes those epic PS1 games even more useful for long trips.
