Seven Days left to please the Obsidian Lord.
Things are mostly normal at Fuuka Academy. The students go about their business, blissfully unaware, and the teachers carry on with their lectures, not all quite as unaware.
Behind the scenes, things are different. Now aware of their horrible fate, the Hime struggle to accept the idea of fighting with others, many their friends; and of the death that awaits their loved ones if they don't. Those that can accept it make plans for the days to come.
In hidden locations, other plans are being made. The forces of the Searrs Foundation organize themselves for the trials that lie ahead in pursuit of the Golden Millennium. The dark founder of the Festival and his allies watch from the shadows, waiting for their machinations to unfold. And a solitary girl waits and hopes she will have the strength to follow the course she has set for herself.
The Ikusahime Festival has begun, but is not yet in full swing. Everyone is watching, waiting to see who makes the first move. Now is the time to step lightly, testing your opponents before you strike. For today only, attacks will not succeed unless the attacker beats the defender's score by at least 2.

Hime cannot guard themselves, but will defend themselves if attacked. So looking at it another way, Hime always guard themselves as a passive ability.
