Well this fucking blows because on the PC version, its not going to be much better. :?
I'll never understand why people liked GIANT matches where the maps didn't even support that # of players. Just a huge cluster fuck
Because often times squads somewhat form up on certain clan servers that I play on and when dead, players will wait by the respawn area for their team or squad to for up so that 4 players can roll out together as a group. Its actually a really interesting way to play the game as you play a bit more realistically, conservatively, and actually cover/get covered by team mates instead of just random cluster fucks like you discuss.

well first, I was not contending with the fact that longer barrels means longer.
second, why not make the mp5 more comparable to the pistol's damage instead of being the one-stop killing machine that I've been led to believe that it already is?
edit: why does everyone pull out the "olol too many people for map design" strawman when people talk about wanting more players? If the map designers can design maps for 4, 8, and 16 people, why can't they design maps for 32, 64, 128, etc?
I guess you guys have already seen the Best Buy IW fan Q&A session. And it was mostly them dodging IW.net questions anyway, so it wasn't particularly interesting. Apart from them revealing that they've taken out the ability to lean from the pc version. That seems weird. I guess "taken out" isn't quite the right phrase, it's simply not there while it was present in MW1.
Also I found this response strangely hilarious:
Moriarte: Ignoring IW.net, is the PC version a direct port of the console version?
Mackey-IW: No, PC has custom stuff like mouse control, text chat in game, and graphics settings.

So now you are buying the exact same game for console. Can I ask: what's the difference? I figure if you are going to get it on PC then you want m/kb. If that is the case, then why wouldn't you still get it for PC?

Custom ma.... OH WAIT.
I'll maybe get this when its used at gamestop OR for Chirstmas since somebody is bound to make me want to play it.
Used would hopefully mean that I don't give the money for their retarded decisions. Yes its childish but they do make it look fun. Just slightly retarded.
Bonus points to whoever can tell me the song name.

My god I can't fucking wait.
I like how he gets kills even when his crosshairs aren't on a target 90% of the time...
Brutle's talking about Crossfire. The car below the B building's window you can use to get into the first floor.
You can get totally trapped in a spot in Crossfire. Ground floor of the building at the top of the hill, go in the right side entrance and jump into the corner with the chairs. I tried hiding there once only to find that I couldn't get out.
Yup I've gotten trapped there in Crossfire as well. Also on some sheet metal on the ground in the middle of shipment, I get caught there every other time I play that match.

I'm sure people love doing 64 person games on Shipment
I mean jesus that map's intolerable enough with 12, but if you just want to get a boner by having a four-digit killcount then I guess it's useful

Oh God, this is my fault. It's because I asked, "It can't get any worse than this right?"
Yes what the hell where you thinking?
I just have a question have any of you ever played with a hilarious over stuffed map? It's actually quite fun. CoD 5 was actually glorious with 32 people it just felt right.
But what do I know.

I thought it was funny.
In all seriousness though, setting such a low cap isn't much fun at all. Having a map-to-map cap would've been better maybe.
I mean I get the more intimate, team-work-ability of 9-man size teams. But at the same time, it removes the option for all-out fuckery.

but what if they DID design a map for more than x amount of people? You're saying don't allow x people because the maps are designed for 16. I'm saying, design maps for x people and then you can allow x players.
SirToasty: I'm still on the fence about purchasing the game.
On the one hand I feel the PC community is getting fisted hand over fist by decisions being made (probably by Activision) so by not purchasing it for the PC it should be interpreted as "we did something wrong! Acidlacedpenguin didn't buy it for the PC!!!!!1 the end is nigh!"
but on the other hand I want to play the games that my friends will be playing this holiday season.
on the third hand, I already know that this game will sell millions of copies, so my own non-purchase won't count for anything anyway. This game could be a giant hunk of turd, but with the brand power and the fact that it is IW is enough to guarantee millions of sales and 9/10 or better reviews.
and on the fourth hand, I could just wait a few days for one of the mindless xbots to trade in their copy for the next shiny new game to come out.
I never felt CoD4 maps felt like a clusterfuck or overfilled with 32 players. Except maybe killhouse, but that's supposed to be insane nonsense anyway so it felt right in a different way.
The other PC relevant news from that Q&A:
No dev console, fov locked at 65, 100ms ping is the new standard.

I think that it's pretty clear that their focus is on console players and they could not care much less about PC players so boycotting (a bit of an extreme term for the circumstances) would probably do very little. That's just my thoughts on it. If you wanted it on PC before, then there is still no reason not to get it on PC. They didn't make PC inferior, just equal.

It's only a matter of time before I dream about the Striker. Preferably given to me by Keith David.
I hope he gives you his sunglasses, too.
I'm hoping Makarov appears and he proceeds to fight him for ten minutes over the pair of sunglasses like in the Peter Griffin vs Giant Chicken sequences.
Because that would be awesome.

pardon the pc elitism but equal IS inferior :P
all trolling aside,
when CoD 4 came out I bought it on the PC despite the fact that most of my friends were buying it on the 360 because I wanted to play in dedicated servers and the ability to lean made the game slower and more tactical, which made those ridiculous builds people were talking about earlier less likely to help you more than good old strategy.
now that both of those features are gone, it makes more sense for me to buy it for 360.
edit: also, I already know the game will sell millions of copies, so a boycott wouldn't really do anything at all, which is why I pointed out the "this one guy didn't buy our game, boohoo" thing.
I guess that's the reason why I get so frustrated when I bring up a legitimate complaint and am just told to shut up and vote with my wallet. The amount of people who either "ooooh shiny!" or don't care outweigh those of us who would do care by probably at least 100k to 1.
Better the devil you know. At this point Xbox live is a known quantity, so you know what to expect from it. IW.net? Who fucking knows? 7 days left and still not an official press release, not a hands on preview, not a screenshot of the multiplayer interface. Nothing.
If they think it's so awesome, and they've been working so hard on it for so long why is it still such a fucking mystery?
Don't be absurd. This isn't just some rushed port! They've been hand crafting the PC experience for months now. They've made IW.net from the ground up to cater to PC players and their specific needs. They added mouse support and graphics options!

That's a very good point. I don't have any sort of counter-argument against it other than that I don't have a 360 or PS3 so I kind of have to get it on PC.

No need to get too upset yet. Who knows, anything could change with the PC version. After all, they're apparently still working on finishing it.
From the Best Buy Q&A:

Will there be a multiplayer PC demo shortly after release? The PC community is largely skeptical at best right now and with no ability to trade-in or rent, this is a real gamble for our wallets.

Hey they beat Borderlands to it! (I'm just kidding I love you Borderlands.)
So, my brother just used one of two morale calls per week to call me, his big brother, and he gave me some wonderful news.
