I'm looking for something to convert a bunch of avi files onto DVDs. I got WinAVI, but it doesn't work very well at all.

Any suggestions?

ConvertXtoDVD perhaps? Worked very well for me the few times I've tried it.

Whenever I'm encoding something to a DVD I always use TMPGenc Plus, requires a bit of knowledge though. It's not free either. It does give the best encoding quality though.

    Try Windows DVD Maker.

No idea how well it works for what you want, but... it comes installed on the W7 RC, so it's probably available for Vista too.

I haven't tried it myself, but DVD Flick seems to do what you want.
