So I can't even restore this shit. It worked once by happenstance, but now it just randomly gives me the "connect to iTunes" screen and I don't know why.

What the hell is going on and what did Apple do to ever so ROYALLY fuck with what was working JUST fine?

Is it jailbroken? Is it still covered under warranty? The easiest solution would be to go to an Apple store and get them to replace it.

If you jailbroke it and fucked around with updates you bricked your iPhone. Go to an Apple store.

Do not jailbreak, it fucks around with built in functions and on top of that it drastically reduces the amount of RAM your phone has available, which means more crashes and fuck ups on even the simplest shit.

It's not jailbroken or anything. Attempt after attempt to restore won't work. Really frustrating.

And I'd take it back, but the volume button fell off and I'm afraid they'll be like, "Oh. You dropped it. Tough shit."

Is this on a pc or mac? Since a couple of iTunes updates ago my XP pc just bricks my iPhone evrytime I try to run an update. The only 'solution' I've found so far is to use another computer, idealy a mac although my sister's vista pc also worked.

Didn't work on the other one either.

This happened once before, I restored it finally after multiple attempts it randomly worked once.

Recently it'll randomly shut down, but a couple of start/stops usually got it to work. Guess I'll just have to hope Apple is feeling nice when I go in.

Wow. So nothing was able to happen at all. I modded my case (fuck me) and they can't do anything for me.

So I see China iPhones for sale. How awful of an idea is that?

Enter the phone into DFU mode and then Manually restore the phone by downloading the firmware and manually selecting it. (In windows you do this by holding shift and clicking restore)

Here are a bunch of tutorials on jailbreaking (which contains links to the offical apple firmware) and how to enter the phone into DFU mode.

I don't think I can even enter DFU mode.

I'm stuck at the iTunes logo + USB cord screen and I don't think, from the options I've read, that I can enter this legendary and false hope DFU mode.

Unless there's someway the software to Jailbreak says, "Fuck shoes" and does work. Does it does work?

Plug it into your mac, boot up iTunes and try and hold down the Power/Sleep button simultaneously with the Home button. Keep both buttons pressed down until your iPhone powers off (ignore the slide to turn off). When your iPhone turns off, release the Power/Sleep button, but keep the Home button depressed until iTunes detects the iPhone.

This will work to get it into dfu mode. I've done it enough times on work iphones after we upgraded.

    Ok. I'll say this again.

I CANNOT GET PAST THE iTunes+USB Cord SCREEN.

There's no option for me to even get to the slider to turn off my phone. I cannot boot my phone at all. It gives me the Apple logo for 5 seconds, then the iTunes one.

    Try this:

    • Connect to computer
    • Hold down power and home for ten seconds until screen goes black (this is how you turn the phone off when it is in recovery mode)
    • Release both buttons
    • Hold down power and home buttons again for exactly ten seconds
    • Release the power button but keep the home button held down until the computer recognises a USB device plugged in
    • Wait for iTunes to acknowledge iPhone

I'm not sure if that will definitely work, but I think it should.
